We are seeking a Program Manager for the Integrative Health Equity Initiative at the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Health. The goal of the initiative is to consolidate and advance our efforts to resolve longstanding inequities in health and healthcare using the unique framework of integrative medicine.

Integrative medicine focuses on whole person care using a wide range of therapies and modalities (e.g., acupuncture, mindfulness, herbal medicine) stemming from all parts of the world. Our work to advance integrative health equity imagines optimal health for all through multilingual, culturally responsive care across the lifespan, accessible to all regardless of socioeconomic status.

With supervision from the Associate Director for Health Equity and Diversity, the Program Manager coordinates across existing and future integrative health equity projects. This includes setting up and coordinating the Osher Center Community Advisory Board; serving as a liaison between community collaborators and Osher Center leadership; providing feedback on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts at the Osher Center, including programming for our ongoing DEI working group; and facilitating synergy across integrative health equity projects and efforts. The Integrative Health Equity Program Manager will work closely with Osher Center faculty, staff, trainees, and community partners. The position will collaborate with Osher Center’s teams working on:
  • Building and sustaining community partnerships to improve access to integrative health for marginalized individuals and communities
  • Testing models of care to improve access to integrative medicine for racially and linguistically diverse individuals with chronic conditions
  • Improving diversity in the field of integrative medicine through community engagement and pipeline training programs (e.g., the Integrative Health Equity and Applied Research summer training program)
  • Integrating the initiative’s goals throughout the Center’s administrative, clinical, education, and research programs

The ideal Program Manager for this position is a proactive, flexible professional with strong team-building, program management, evaluation, and communication skills; committed to health equity and integrative medicine; and interested in working with collaborative interprofessional teams on multiple projects. Collaborating with the Associate Director for Health Equity and Diversity, the Program Manager will:
  • Manage program development and implementation
  • Support dissemination of integrative health interventions for diverse patient populations
  • Manage team communications, including coordinating and facilitating team meetings, distributing materials, and corresponding on progress across projects
  • Collaborate with the project team to support ongoing grant progress reports and new grant applications
  • Collaborate with Osher Center director and executive committee on annual diversity and accountability report
  • Develop program evaluation metrics to track the progress of the Integrative Health Equity Initiative
  • Coordinate the relationship of the Osher Center’s work to projects and programs related to health equity across UCSF
  • Communicate progress on integrative health equity projects to internal and external partners

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 3+ years of related experience in integrative health and/or health equity
  • Has thorough knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion and accessibility programs and can apply more advanced subject matter knowledge in the completion of diversity, equity, and inclusion assignments.
  • Familiar with integrative medicine and how it can contribute to advancing health equity in the United States context
  • Possesses in-depth skills to gather, organize and perform analyses on diversity, equity and inclusion and accessibility programs and initiatives as well as presenting findings and making recommendations clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Possesses excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Has thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; knowledge of functional area and understands how work may impact other areas.
  • Ability to translate quantitative and qualitative data into accessible language and visual displays
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and professionally with UCSF colleagues and external collaborators in academic and community-based settings (verbally, in writing, and through active listening)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s in public health or health sciences, or social science related field, and/or equivalent experience/training
