Description of Primary Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements interface uptime monitoring tools designed to allow quick response to interface failures and to minimize interface downtime.
  • Assists with planning and coordination of system integration and usage.
    • Develop plans and solutions necessary to meet needs for informational access, security and integration in consultation with the Network Administrator/s.
  • Plans, develops, tests, implements and oversees technical interfaces utilizing integration tools.
    • Analyzes, develops and maintains interfaces to satisfy needs of user departments.
    • Defines specific system designs and interfaces where applicable.
    • Develops policy and procedures pertinent to computer applications within the specialized area.
  • Functions as primary resource to respond to any interface related issue (any type of data exchange between the electronic health record and other systems, including HL7, NCPDP, patient portal, or other).
    • Follows up until resolution and identification of root cause to prevent same issue.
    • Follows up on any required backlog resulted from interface problems.
    • Monitors daily interface events and reconciles applicable items to ensure complete patient records.
  • Interfaces with user departments in order to assist them in the determination of information content and systems appropriate to meet their needs.
    • Continually expands knowledge and expertise in Information Services, new technologies and developments, and project management methodologies.
    • Utilizes knowledge of data security practices and procedures in order to assist in bringing all computer/network systems into full HIPAA compliance
    • Develops clear and concise documentation, instruction manuals, and audit trails of program changes in accordance with the departmental and programming standards.
  • Responsible for providing support to resolve application and software issues.
    • Researches, documents, tests, trouble-shoots, and tracks software related issues, patches, hotfixes, and upgrades.
    • Provides application support to end users
  • Provides training and instructions for users and Network Technicians. Assists with the EHR system.
    • Serves as a resource for system integration.
    • Learns related applications and provides technological advice concerning all aspects of the software, hardware and interface of systems under direct responsibilities.
  • Responds to user and IS staff requests for analysis of problem or systems including researching alternatives, identifying potential solutions, defining test criteria, performing system testing, analyzing test results, implementing changes and monitoring post-implementation performance.
  • Utilize experience with software and hardware systems to conduct educated research that will properly provide the information necessary to help the Chief Information Officer make informed decisions concerning the purchasing of hardware and software. Must take the budget, programming, user requirements, and affect of the products on the present and future success of the company into strong consideration.
    • Performs advanced research to provide accurate and pertinent recommendations for the most appropriate and successful migration to new technologies. Investigate and estimate feasibility and costs.

Professional & Technical Knowledge:

  • Possesses work-related skills at a higher level than completion of high school, including formal written and verbal communications skills, computational and computer skills, mathematical, technical or health care related knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a trade school, para-professional, certificate type program.
  • Requires knowledge and training in the field of Information Systems and/or interfaces (such as HL7, NCPDP).

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to prepare more complex documents in Microsoft Word, including creating tables, charts, graphs and other elements.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to review and compile data, including the use of formulas, functions, lookup tables and other standard spreadsheet elements.
  • Ability to create basic presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Licenses & Certifications: None required.

Communications Skills:

  • Job duties require the compilation of information prepared in effective written form, including correspondence, reports, articles or other documentation.
  • Effectively conveys technical information to non-technical audiences.

Pay Scale:

Min Hourly Rate: $24.28

Max Hourly Rate: $33.51
