OBJECTIVE (POSITION SUMMARY)
This position is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, supporting customer profitability, and overseeing the movement of goods door to door for air import consignments. This position requires you to exercise consistent, independent thinking and decision making to meet customer requirements, deliver a high level of service, at profitable levels as guided by the Station manager. The position requires a well-rounded understanding of International Air Import Freight Forwarding. Job duties may be added or taken away due to operational / business needs and requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:
In this position, the International Air Import Agent is responsible for:
- Creating required documentation for air import international shipments.
- Creating load tenders and distributing them to the appropriate transportation providers.
- Following up to ensure consistent delivery performances that meet customer expectations.
- Maintaining billing to customers or overseas agents.
- Resolving payment discrepancies and preventing invoicing errors.
- Providing day-to-day shipment tracking, tracing, and monitor shipment movements.
- Updating customers and management of shipments in jeopardy of not meeting scheduled delivery commitments.
- Working cohesively in a team environment.
- Performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Basic Proficiency in Microsoft Office e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of Transportation Management Software is required, as trained.
- Experience with load boards is an asset e.g., bid boards
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task accurately and with attention to detail.
- Able to work well under pressure, in a fast-paced environment, and with limited supervision.
- Team cooperation and respect are required.
Work Schedule
- Consistently report to work on time, prepared to perform required duties.
- Ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent.
- Full-time, in office schedule of minimum 8 hours per day with flexibility to complete all required job duties and responsibilities.
Physical Demands
- Regular physical demands: Walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; use fingers for keyboarding; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Education and Industry Knowledge
- High school diploma and or related trade certifications.
- BA degree in Business, Logistics or International Trade or Transportation & Logistics is an asset.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in International Air Freight Forwarding.
- Additional background in Freight Forwarding is a plus, including import and export regulations and documentation requirements, IFS, AMS, CPB, domestic transportation modes and pricing methodology, knowledge of TSA, CTPAT, and government regulations & requirements.
