Job Title: IT Data Analyst II

Department: Information Technology

FLSA : Exempt

General Function

An independent contributor data professional responsible for the design of data models and databases, data quality, and the effective acquisition, integration, management and communication of data and metadata.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, extracts, and cleans appropriate data for any given business problem specifically in their domain. Will be challenged to easily piece together data for anything outside of their domain. Code to do so is efficient
  • Expert in one or two advanced modeling techniques, but does not have breadth of expertise yet in other realms. If business problem matches up with modeling skillset, is able to drive project. If outside of skillset, requires more time and support from superiors to complete task
  • Able to identify proper evaluation metrics for models of expertise. May need help driving next action steps with more unfamiliar models
  • Works with superiors to deploy models
  • Has technical expertise within statistical or technical software of choice - but may not have full breadth or exposure to every step of the analytics project. Able to write efficient code. Can troubleshoot, but may take more time to identify issue/cause.
  • Able to create effective visuals that easily display information.
  • Contribute to data domain specific governance working groups to define standards for data integrity and quality
  • Contribute to impact analysis, development and implementation of data source migration for existing applications
  • Tests and reviews development, configuration, and testing done by junior team members
  • Prepares and reviews data policies, standards, and procedures
  • Performs and reviews data profiling and builds and reviews Data Quality rules
  • Performs and reviews on-boarding and curation of data in enterprise data catalog; Assists in documentation of Business processes

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

  • Has a thorough understanding of their team's domain, and how it contributes to overall business strategy. Has a basic understanding of adjacent teams' business domains. This allows them to easily plug and play into other areas analysis if need be.
  • Builds and maintains knowledge about company’s processes and strategies. Builds and promotes data integration across systems including applications outside of their area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates strong working knowledge of the relevant data management and analytics tools and technologies for the area supported.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of data life cycle management (DLCM)
  • Exhibits a strong working understanding of data platforms, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve most data problems on the existing systems supported.
  • Understands key data architectural components and how they should be factored into decisions and recommendations.

Experience and Education

Bachelor degree preferred, or relevant experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities (Direct Reports)

  • Is typically responsible for completion of a small project or component of a larger project.
  • Assists in the analysis of vendor proposals and the evaluation of build versus buy considerations.
  • Contributes to the development of project plans, provides estimates, identifies key milestones, and raises critical project issues such as technical constraints or resource needs and proposes alternative solutions.

Physical Requirements

  • Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.
  • Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: operating a computer, occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: meeting with customers, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

The duties for this position are performed in a general or remote office setting. There is weekly pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a day.
