Summary

Performs a variety of clerical and office tasks in the Jail, requiring specific knowledge of departmental functions and procedures. Assignments may include but not limited to Receptionist, Commissary, Support, AFIS, and Warrants.

Prior to employment, certified applicants must complete a thorough criminal history background check and polygraph. In addition to completing a Benton County application, applicants must* also complete and attach a Personal History Statement (PHS) to the application. Example of Duties
Print, sort, stamp, distribute, and process reports, mail/documents, and bail as required internally for the Corrections Department and act as a liaison with other County departments/offices, including but not limited to District Court, Superior Court, Sheriff’s Office, and Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Check bookings, and process accordingly by opening new jackets, making corrections, or notifying the appropriate parties.

Greets and assists the public, staff and other agencies by phone or in person by providing detailed information as authorized from sources such as published manuals and procedures; refers inquiries/visitors to appropriate department or individual when necessary.

Enters, updates, and/or deletes data on local, state and national computerized records as appropriate to provide and maintain accurate files, records, and logs.

Provides background checks and other requested information to officers and authorized agencies, accessing local, state and federal computerized record systems.
Working with inmates could include but not limited to providing commissary and maintaining records of inmate trust accounts, arranging transportation to and from the Benton County Jail, sort and post inmate mail, keep records of inmate medical charges and property damage, and assist and schedule appointments for video visitation.

Completes regularly recurring reports; compiles data from varied sources and makes summary reports as required. May involve routine mathematical calculations and tabulations in accordance with established methods. Providers reports and information to various agencies such as DOC, Social Security, Plasma Center, Military recruiters, DSHS, Child Support, etc.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

High school diploma, or G.E.D., two years of progressively responsible clerical experience in a law enforcement environment; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Valid Washington State Driver’s License.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $3,507.00 - $4,552.00 per month
