Jr. Engineer
Contract: 12 months with possible extensions Shift: Monday-Friday 40-hour week. Location: North Chicago, IL – ONSITE
Job Description:
An engineering professional who applies engineering and scientific knowledge, mathematics, and ingenuity to complete basic engineering assignments related to a specific technical field or discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for updating and leading cross functional stake holders for corporate level Engineering Standards documents primarily for Facility and/or Utilities related equipment and systems. Assists in development and revision of specifications templates and standards.
- Supports senior engineering in small-sized projects including design, field surveys, start- up and commissioning support. Reports to management with appropriate frequency. Establishes contacts with supervisor, project leaders and other professionals in group.
- Participates and/or assists other engineers in the design of processes, equipment, systems, and facilities by applying standard engineering theories, concepts, and techniques within the discipline.
- Investigates, conducts tests, gathers data, performs preliminary analysis, report findings, and prepares and communicates recommendations and respective action plans.
- Builds relationships, initiates, and cultivates open, honest relationships with colleagues, customers, contractors, and vendors by establishing rapport, developing an understanding of others’ needs, promoting common goals, and following through on commitments.
- Conveys information effectively through verbal, written, and presentations to stakeholders and team members, both internal and external, using appropriate communication protocols. Identifies ways to increase customer satisfaction. Documents agreements and commitments and keeps direct customers informed throughout the project or initiative.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline is desired or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence.
- 0-1 year of experience, recent college graduate is preferred.
- Good working knowledge of Windows (File structure), MS Word (track changes and version controls), Excel (including Pivot Tables), PowerPoint, MS Visio, SharePoint, and MS Teams
Top skill requirements:
- Basic computer skills for Microsoft Office, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions, such as written procedures, standard methods, and protocols without deviations
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to document the work clearly and timely
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $52,350.00 - $65,500.00 per year
