Job Title Description: Junior R&D Chef

Division: Taylor Farms Northwest Kent, WA

Position Summary: The Junior R&D Chef is reponsible for working with the sales team and R&D Chef to see through the launch of new products, as well as improving existing products in support of business and customer objectives. This culinary role will be expected to build samples based off of customers expectations, as well as pricing out new items. They will be expected to organize and lead all pilots and testing with production. Additionaly they will manage and upload product specs, job aids, and oversee any updates required.

Essential Duties and Responsibities:

• Lead production pilots and testing
• Ordering ingredients for samples and pilots
• Work directly with sales to develop items based off customers’ needs
• Cost out new products to ensure adequate sales margin
• Validate concessions for approval process
• Create and update specs for production
• Create and update job aids for production
• Lead new projects meeting
• Troubleshoot customer complaints
• Manage the micro/sensory testing results
• Guide production in new product launches
• Assist in test kitchen on new items

Requirements:

• Pursuing a degree or have experience in Food Science, Nutrition, Culinary Science, or related field
• Must have 2 years minimum in culinary arts and/or food science
• Qualified candidates will possess excellent self-management
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Must be willing and able to safely work with Peanut, Tree Nut & Dairy products
• Experience in Excel & PowerPoint
• Flexible work hours throughout the week
• Attention to detail
• Great written/verbal communication skills
• Take initiative work ethic
• Experience effectively communicating with employees with varying dialects

Licensing and Certification: N/A

Tools and Equipment Used: MS Office products, proprietary software and other basic office, production, and quality equipment.

Work Environment:

• Occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and extreme cold (non-weather)
• Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather)
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
• The noise level in the work environment is not normally loud

Full time employees are eligible for benefits after 60-days, which includes medical, dental, vision, and Life Insurance. 401k 4% match is available after 60 days.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
