The kitchen assistant must be someone who has the strength to be standing up for long periods of time and perform routine and repetitive tasks such as organizing stations and ingredients so that the food can be prepared according to the recipes. The assistant must also be skillful and able to follow directions, as well as health and safety rules in the kitchen. The candidate should be able to work diligently in a fast paced and busy environment as part of a team. He/She must have a flexible attitude, teamwork skills, and good personal hygiene. Must know that his/her work space can be hot and noisy and must pass the food handler course.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleaning of utensils and cleaning of the work area
- Knife handling
- Time management
- Teamwork
- Serve food
- Organising the stockroom
- Label and store all ingredients on shelves so they are organized and easily accessible
- Measure the ingredients and seasonings that are going to be used when cooking
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, wash and cut vegetables, cut meat, etc.
- Prepare simple dishes such as salads, fruits, etc.
- Keep the kitchen clean and tidy by washing dishes, wiping down surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
- Make sure all food and other products are stored properly
- Comply with health and nutritional guidelines
- Reviewing kitchen inventory and determining what items are needed
- Unloading fresh supplies and Checking sell-by dates and rotating food stock
- Cleaning kitchen appliances, ovens, dishes and pans
- Observing cooking times and correct temperaturas
- Perform other duties as assigned
El ayudante de cocina debe ser una persona que tenga resistencia para estar de pie mucho rato, desarrollar tareas rutinarias y repetitivas como organizar las estaciones y los ingredientes para que la comida pueda prepararse siguiendo las recetas. - Mantener la cocina limpia y ordenada (lavando los platos, limpiando las superficies, sacando la basura, etc.)
