Position Description:

The primary responsibility of this position is to manufacture and serve meals for residents of Bridgeview Community.

Summary of Duties:

· Maintains the cleanliness and safety of kitchen and of food storage areas.

· Set up various workstations.

· Completes daily prep work as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.

· Creates menu items as requested by the Kitchen Manager.

· Assists in preparation and assembly of meals.

· Safely practice heavy lifting and carrying with the help of another person if necessary.

· Ensures that prepped and un-prepped food items are stored properly.

· Portions prepared food items, allocating, wrapping and labeling.

· Ensures kitchen cleanliness at all times, including the emptying of trash receptacles, washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, etc.

· Keeps the pantry, walk-in, and freezer organized.

· Communicates clearly and efficiently with Kitchen Manager regarding work progress.

· Breaks down and cleans all kitchen equipment after use.

· Adheres to deadlines, product quality.

· Works safely around and with heat sources, cleaning agents such as bleach and other caustic chemicals, and sharp objects such as knives.

· Completes daily cleaning of all surfaces including sinks, stovetops and sides, refrigerators on both interior and exterior, walls, counters and flooring.

· Interacts in a positive and professional manner with other employees, management, and consumers.

· Observes a fixed work schedule and communicates any deviations to the schedule to a supervisor in advance.

· Completes other tasks as assigned by a supervisor in a timely manner.

Observes all other New Narrative Inc. policies and procedures

Qualifications:

Valid Oregon Food Handler’s Card required

· Proficient with a variety of kitchen tools and equipment including but not limited to: steam table, cold station, range, char-broiler, ovens, mixers, food processors, burr mixers, and knives.

· Familiar with USDA food guidelines and portioning sizes.

· Previous cooking experience within an organization or restaurant for large number of people daily.

· Maintain current Food Handlers card and follow all rules and regulations within Food Handler's book.

· Must be able to pass a Criminal Background check through the Department of Human Services

· Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills

· Ability to lift, bend, twist, and carry up to 80 lbs multiple times per day

· Work for long periods on feet, including standing, walking, and stair climbing

· Fine hand manipulation including chopping, slicing, writing, picking up small and larger items, etc.

Ability to work efficiently in a high pace and potentially stressful environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour
