The Program:
Make a difference in Washington State by joining L&I as an Office Assistant 3. In this role, you’ll work in the Crime Victims Compensation Program which works to reduce the financial hardship for victims of violent crime by providing benefits to eligible victims.
The Role:
You’ll support claims adjudication staff and law enforcement records coordinators by timely establishing new crime victim claims and requesting police reports. Additionally, you’ll review crime victim applications for completeness, enter in sexual assault exams into ETK (Entellitrak) and LINIIS for the billing staff, and follow up on requested information.
Some of what you’ll do:
- Reviews crime victim applications for completeness.
- Determines if further information is needed to establish a claim and if so, take appropriate action. Verifies whether the application has the legally correct signature or sufficient crime information.
- May need to contact the applicant, legal guardian, medical provider, DSHS, funeral home, or law enforcement agency for information by email, phone, or letter and follow-up for a response. Prioritizes applications for homicides and issue letter of condolence for the Program Manger’s signature.
- Inputs required information into ETK.
- Reviews crime information for correct law enforcement agency contact information.
- Sends request for police reports via secured email or FAX. Follows up on requested information via phone, email, or letter.
- Keys in Sexual Assault Exam Information.
REQUIRED:
- Completion of high school or equivalency.
AND
- Two years of customer service or clerical experience.
- Be able to type 40 wpm with 98% accuracy
- Review documents for pertinent information.
- Communicate effectively in writing and in speaking with the customer in mind. Explain in easy to understand language work-related information to customers unfamiliar with the topic or process. Listen to the customer with understanding and empathy.
- Manage and organize a high volume work load with sustained focus and be able to meet time frames.
- Establish an average of 25 new claims a day with 98% accuracy.
- Must be able to review graphic law enforcement information.
- Use computer applications proficiently, such as WORD, email, the Internet and other computer technologies required to perform the job.
- Must be able to read imaged documents with varying fonts and challenging handwriting.
- Must be able to use hands and fingers continuously for keying in information.
- Maintain confidentiality of crime victim information.

For this position, telework is permitted full time. The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater, Washington.
