EMSL Analytical, Inc., one of the largest environmental testing firms in the United States, is currently seeking a full time Laboratory Technician in its Food Microbiology Deaprtment for its Morrisville, NC laboratory location. This position will be responsible for asbestos, microbiology and food microbiology laboratory sample preparation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Receive environmental samples and login Chain of Custody information into LIMS system.
Prepare media and reagent preparations for samples.
Assist with sample preparation and pH adjustments.
Quantitative and Qualitative prep for food to include: Aerobic Plate Count, Total Coliform / E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Yeast & Mold, MPN, Salmonella, Listeria, and E. coli O157:H7.
Handling of presumptive positive samples
Prepare a variety of environmental samples for bacteria and fungi analysis.
Documentation of sample preparation & Quality Assurance/Quality Control activities.
Assist with laboratory organization including supply inventory, calibrations, cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment.
Perform clerical and administrative support functions including answer phones, filing, faxing, assisting clients, scanning, and mailing as necessary.
Cross training in other lab disciplines as needed to meet business demands.
Maintaining quality assurance/quality control and company policy.

Requirements:
Associate's Degree in Life Science is required preferably in Biology or Microbiology.
Must have some laboratory experience and be proficient in common laboratory procedures.
Must be able to work with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and must be able to adhere to sterile technique, proper handling of pathogens, and good laboratory practices.
Must have good communication skills.
Must have good computer skills both in typing and MS Office- high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and understanding of custody client confidentiality.
Must be able to work independently and with a team.
Must be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Available Shifts:
Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Training shift to start will be Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
