Responsibilities


General Purpose:

Responsible for human lung tissue cryo and paraffin sectioning, clearing as needed, immunostaining and imaging. Will work with lab team to accomplish 1) development, validation and application multi-plexed CODEX immunofluorescence panels, 2) multi-photon thick section imaging, working closely with the URMC Imaging Core technicians, 3) data acquisition and management of image files from multi-photon, confocal and lab fluorescence microscopes including distribution to NIH consortia on behalf of the PI lab working closely with URMC bioinformatics, 4) maintain tracking system of tissues (to be) imaged and data shared, 5) assists with segmentation, quantification and analysis of image data.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing lung for CT, help with various processing techniques to prepare the lung for histology and in the performance of cell dissociation in order to get single cell suspensions.
  • Performs analyses and scientific data reductions by using standard methods and develops modifications of standard methods to meet special situations.
  • Searches literature for reference to technical problems involved in research projects; writes procedures; prepares charts, graphs and tables; and assists in the preparation of materials for publication.
  • Operates laboratory and experimental testing equipment and apparatus such as phenocycler, microscopes and the like.
  • Collects, processes, classifies and catalogs specimens.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in appropriate discipline plus 2-3 years specialized experience in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Strong self-organizational and problem-solving skills; the ability to plan and organize work and projects and meet deadlines; Flexibility to adjust to changing needs and schedules of lab projects; skill in verbal communication with coworkers and collaborators; attention to detail for the quality of produced work and keeping of records. Must be able to work in a team environment required.
