Job Summary:

The Landscape Field Superintendent is a member of the management team with the responsibility to direct departmental work, activities, make job assignments, administer company policies, and enforce rules set forth in the employee handbook. Reports directly to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the flow of contracted landscape work and all associated paperwork from the delivery of the production packet from Contract Admin. through to scheduling, production, and billing.
  • Oversee Landscape and Construction Foreman for Residential Departments.
  • To ensure that budgeted sales and production goals are being met monthly.
  • To develop and maintain systems and processes with the production staff.
  • To ensure efficiency, training, and coordination within the department.

Duties:

  • Assisting in developing & maintaining department budgets to ensure profitability. These budgets include but are not limited to small tool supply, rental equipment, landscaping materials, equipment and labor budgets.
  • Oversee and Validate accuracy of daily data entry through Tablets and/or paper time sheets.
  • Ensure proper coding of receipts and paperwork turned in by Landscape and Construction Foreman.
  • Responsible for oversite of Landscape Small Equip., Loaders and ordering of Bulk Materials.
  • Developing and improving standard operating procedures in the Landscape Division.
  • Working with current vendors and developing relationships with prospective vendors

to ensure the best quality and cost of materials and supplies.

  • Assisting design & sales staff with construction design layouts.
  • Provide feedback on estimating to sales team when possible before proposals are submitted and after jobs are completed based on the job analysis in order to help fine tune the estimating where we may be estimating too low or high.
  • Coordinating with Contract Admin. the marking of utilities by OUPS prior to job start date.
  • Analyzing and reviewing job cost at the completion of each contract to make sure we are staying on target with Estimated Gross Margins
  • Coordinating with Sales Staff and Contract Administrator to ensure clients are accurately & promptly billed. This includes change order and correct wording on invoices to avoid any AR issues.
  • Assisting in the implementation of an Employee Training and Safety Program with other Managers to insure consistency through-out the company.
  • Managing score cards for Landscape and Construction Foreman on individual jobs and post.
  • Assist in the Personal Performance Evaluations of those involved in the landscape development process.
  • Assist in interview-hiring process for Landscape Construction Department.
  • Perform site visits and inspections to ensure Green Impressions quality standards are being met.
  • Coordination of all service work and or call backs to ensure a great client experience.
  • Directly involved in Snow Operations Planning and Operations Management. May be managing a team/subs within a certain zone and or operating truck within that zone.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience:

  • 2 or 4-Year Degree in Landscape Construction and Contracting, Landscape Horticulture, or Business Management or minimum of 5 Years of Experience in similar Mid-management type role.


Required Licenses, Certifications and Registrations:

  • Certified State OCNT Or National Installer. (CLP, CLT) a Plus
  • State or National Association, School, Or Botanical Center a Plus

  • Have a thorough knowledge of Landscape/Hardscape Industry.

o Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

  • Mathematical Skills

o Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

o Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Computer Skills

o Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

  • Ability to pass background and drug screening.

Physical, Mental and Visual Demands:

  • Safely perform heavy liftings, pushing or pulling of various landscaping equipment and materials. Including, but not limited to, various sizes of lawnmowers, backpack blowers, large containers of mulch or plant materials, etc.
  • Safely operate hand and power equipment.
  • Leverage 80 pounds of a walk behind mower over curbs.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Push, pull, grip and squeeze various tools, products and/or items.
  • Walk up to 10 miles a day, sometimes uphill and on uneven terrain, often while carrying, pushing or pulling equipment, materials or debris.
  • Bend and kneel up to 9 hours or more a day.

Working Conditions:

  • Work hours vary and may exceed 10 hours per day.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, precipitation).
  • Noise level may be loud at times and use of ear protection may be required.

Compensation:

  • Base Salary Range: $60,000-$75,000 per year
  • Year-end profit sharing
