Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, and will be located at 117 N Riverside Dr. Jefferson City, MO.

What you’ll do:
- Read and interpret a work order to fabricate sign, banners, posters, etc. on a variety of substrates by operating a wide format printer, laminator and vinyl cutting machine and producing plaques using CNC engraver.
- Prioritize each day to schedule the workflow efficiently and cost-effectively, manage multiple project deadlines working with multiple graphics sections to provide visual consistency. Exhibit solid organizational and follow-through skills, performing work timely and accurately with strong attention to detail.
- Monitor, order, receive, stock and maintain supplies for adequate inventory and price checking, using state contracts and working with vendors to get the best price.
- Review and edit design work and inspect jobs for accuracy before sending them to output and ensure correct material is used for each job and output device settings are accurate.
- Supervise and evaluate two graphic designers.
- Design signs and interpretive panels utilizing existing templates and styles, or assign to team members and provide proofs as necessary for management and customer approval.
- Develop and utilize sign plans to determine sign needs for MSP facilities.
- Help develop and maintain sign manual and utilize sign manual to maintain sign consistency from facility to facility.
- Operate and maintain hand and power tools including various saws, drills, metal shear, CNC engraver, printer, laminator, plotter, CNC engraver and related tools. Operate material moving equipment such as a forklift, pallet jack, and hand dolly.
- Travel for site visits, picking up material and supplies, sign delivery, training, etc. Occasional overnights may be required.
- Help monitor budget.
- Ship and distribute signs and interpretive panels to facilities
All you need for success:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, art, or closely related field and 3-5 years of design and management experience. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in Adobe design software
- Strong written and communications skills
- Be accountable for the expected workload, work under pressure and meet deadlines with professionalism.
- Ability to prioritize what needs to be done, be proactive and self-motivated; work independently as well as part of a team.
- Communicate with other employees in a calm and professional manner; express self verbally and listen well.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs when necessary.
- Adhere to policies and procedures.
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to climb stairs multiple times a day.
- Ability to work under pressure to output high-volume, high-quality work.
- Ability to lift 50 or more pounds.
- Flexibility to lean over a waist-high table and use back forth hand motion to apply vinyl letters and graphics to a substrate.
- Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
