The Madison County Sheriff’s Merit Commission announces a career opportunity in Law Enforcement.
LATERAL ENTRY DEPUTY SHERIFF (PROBATIONARY RATE $28.18)
Past service credit, up to 5 years, upon completion of probation period.
Benefits include health insurance, thirteen paid holidays, paid vacation, retirement plan, and furnished uniforms.
The Madison County Merit Commission will notify you if you qualify to be placed on the eligibility list.
All applicants must meet the following requirements at the time the application is filed:
U.S. Citizen
Madison County resident within six months of hire
Minimum of 21 years of age
Valid Drivers License
Acceptable police record
High school diploma or GED
Two (2) year Associate Degree or the equivalent in college credits (60 semester credit hrs. or 90 quarterly hrs). MUST INCLUDE COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS/DIPLOMA WITH APPLICATION.
1 Year, POST ACADEMY, Full-Time law enforcement experience with a recognized local, state, or federal law enforcement agency.
State of Illinois Law Enforcement Academy Certification (or equivalent if out of state). MUST INCLUDE COPY OF CERTIFICATION.
Must be in good standing with the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (or state of law enforcement employment.)
Applicants are advised that these positions require very good motor skills, visual acuity, good hearing, and the ability to perform under stressful conditions. These are considered essential functions for basic entry level officer positions. Applicants must pass a thorough background investigation, polygraph test, and fit-for-duty medical exam. Prior drug use may eliminate applicant.
