The Auctioneer Bar, the centerpiece of Durham Food Hall, is seeking an enthusiastic and career-minded Lead Bartender to guide our lively crew. The Auctioneer Bar is known for their craft cocktails, local beer, curated wines, and sustainable values. The Auctioneer prides itself on highlighting local and regional spirits, housemade items like syrups, cordials, and dehydrated garnishes along with products that maintain organic or biodynamic values. We prepare drinks for guests at a fast pace while maintaining the utmost warmth and welcoming hospitality. The Auctioneer Bar is the heart of the hall, often making the bartenders a main attraction. The Lead Bartender must know how to command a busy room and also seek out opportunities for sales during slower times. Responsibilities:

• Working bar shifts independently or with a team
• Seeking out sales opportunities not just behind the bar, but also with the many guests in the dining room
• Keeping the bar visually appealing to guests at all times
• Taking photos for social media on a regular basis, sending content to management - Creating new cocktails and assisting the bar team with their ideas as well
• Ability to craft, or learn to craft, almost everything in house - infusing, simmering, fermenting, and dehydrating
• Making regulars during every shift
• Enjoy time on the main dining floor interacting with and taking care of guests
• Stocking, cleaning, organizing, and notifying management when inventory is getting low
• Maintaining an organized beer cooler and prep space
• Creating a prep list (this is a prep-heavy bar) and par list for the bar team and the ability to enforce the prep/par list's completion
• Developing team members with the help of management to achieve top standard and optimal guest experience
• Providing daily updates on bar happenings, guest requests, stock, and team member performance
• Being the point person for the bar when management is not present
• Notifying management of menu change needs and maintaining the bars Untappd page
• Keeping the retail cooler organized and stocked, while notifying management of new needs
• Maintaining the retail wine space and game machine area. Restocking change in the machine when needed. Notifying management when games are not working properly
• Maintaining the schedule for the Daily Cleaning tasks, and ensuring they are completed to standard

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years bartending experience
• Minimum 1 year craft cocktail experience
• Basic beer and wine knowledge
• Extreme customer service focus and the ability to start a conversation with anyone
• Leadership experience and sense of personal responsibility
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• A strong work ethic with willingness to take on extra shifts and go above and beyond
• Cash handling experience
• The ability to keep a clean and organized workspace
• Superb awareness

The Auctioneer Bar's pay is based on experience. After 60 days of employment, we offer PTO and a meal program among other benefits.

• Must be able to stand, bend, crouch, and twist.
• The average shift is 6-8 hours. Must be able to work the entirety of the shift with little break time.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, sometimes over your head.
• Must be able to work with chemicals and in varying temperatures.

Compensation: $12.00 - $15.00 per hours + tips
