Hourly paid position reporting to the Store Manager or the Assistant Store Manager.

The Lead Cashier will assist the Assistant and Store Managers in running an efficient, profitable and safe facility. Responsibilities include customer service, retail sales, supervising, and motivating and training store employees using the process board and process cards. The Lead Cashier is accountable to the Assistant and Store Managers.

You are expected to sell gasoline, car washes, tobacco products, beer, hot food bakery, candy and various related products to retail customers. Maintains facility, prepares and merchandise products to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction.

• Minimum 90 days experience in retail sales or a related industry.
• Ability to effectively motivate and work well with teammates.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• English language competency and good written communication skills.
• Basic math computation and good cash handling skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain a live drawer while on duty.
• Follow all cashiering policies and procedures, setting a good example for the team to follow.
• Be knowledgeable and able to do the following:
  • Run end of day
  • Call in gas
  • Reconcile and fill vending safe
• Ensure that carding and safety policies and standards are being followed closely. Quiz employees on these policies and standards on a daily basis.
• Help Assistant Manager to complete daily employee evaluations.
• Give input on quarterly evaluations to Assistant and Store Managers.
• Assist in controlling labor costs; ensure all employees complete their assigned duties using the process boards and cards.
• Understand and solve maintenance issues:
  • Retail ex
  • Car Wash
  • Pumps and pies (Marc to be notified of maintenance needs, FMI pie issues).
  • Fountain, ICEE, coffee equipment (proper companies notified of maintenance issues).
  • Pump paper in pumps.
• Inventory Control:
  • Pull Lottery/Lotto (p) audits throughout shift to ensure that they balance.
  • Work with Assistant and Store Managers to order from vendors.
  • Understand build-ups, buy-ins and post-offs.
• Kitchen
  • Ensure kitchen is clean and safe at all times.
  • Ensure food HatCo is in code and rotated.
  • Work with Assistant and Store Manager to pull food from freezer and code date it.
  • Assist management in training employees regarding safe food handling.
• Cleanliness
  • Ensure store is clean and safe at all times.
  • Delegate cleaning duties to employees as needed.
  • Ensure the store is CORE ready at all times. Achieve a 95% minimum on inspection.

Working Conditions:

Lead Cashiers are expected to work a "mid" shift. The Store Manager is in the store from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm; the Assistant Manager is in the store after 2:00 pm and the Lead Cashier is scheduled to work a "mid" shift; so that they can receive training from both the Assistant and Store Managers. Must be available to work on short notice, weekends, holidays, and overtime when necessary. Must be able to withstand temperature changes from the walk-in cooler to the store as well as outdoors. Will work in proximity to oven and warmer. Emphasis on cleaning and sanitation involves use of hot water and cleaning products including detergents and bleach. There may be occupational exposure to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer or other reproductive harm.

Physical requirements:

• Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand on your feet in a confined space for hours.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of energy.
