Job Description Summary

The Lead Combined Cycle Application Engineer will work closely with Regional Application Engineers and Value Solution Leaders to transition jobs from Pre-ITO into the proposal execution phase. This individual will be primarily focused on combined cycle heat and mass balance modeling and power plant thermal design and optimization. #RNCF22

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • End deliverables include heat and mass balances to support contractual guarantees, correction curves, performance guarantees, and data for equipment sizing.
  • Interface with RAEs / VSLs to develop a winning product & plant configuration strategy prior to formal bid
  • Develop project specific thermal power plant cycle designs, system models, performance & emissions data based on customer requirements & latest product capabilities
  • Develop heat and mass balances to provide contractual guarantees and correction curves
  • Generate data to support equipment (i.e HRSG, ST, Condenser, BOP) sizing and cost estimation
  • Interface with all key internal customers & partners – VSLs, PLs, AEs, GT & ST SILs, Integrated Performance & Comm-Ops Support Performance Risk Evaluation
  • Make use of design practices, standards, ISO quality procedures
  • Improve team productivity & quality through process improvements, documentation standards, & work instructions
  • Provide inputs on the development, enhancement, & maintenance of application tools
  • Periodically support external customer meetings


Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
    • Minimum of 5 years engineering experience

Desired Characteristics

  • Power Generation Product experience
  • Experience in gas turbine & combined cycle steady state modeling & associated tools (GTP, GateCycle, Thermoflow, etc.)
  • GE (or equivalent) gas turbine, steam turbine, & combined cycle product line knowledge
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, & teaming skills
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, able to meet schedules in fast pace environment
  • Innovative & creative thinker
  • Advanced engineering degree from accredited college or university
