Lead Molecular Technologis

  • Lead Molecular Technologists will commit to one of two 8.5-hour shifts (12PM-830PM or 230PM to 11PM), processing specimens on site at our lab in Watertown, MA.
  • Lead Molecular Technologists will report to their shift’s Laboratory Supervisor, and collaborate closely with Lab Technicians and Processing Associates working their shift.
  • Hourly position: $75000 - $95000 per year, commensurate with experience. Differential pay and Overtime available.

Clinical Laboratory Scientist Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform specimen handling, processing, and testing according to the laboratory’s standard operating procedures. Review and authorize results.
  • Perform and document appropriate quality control, instrument preventative maintenance and function checks.
  • Follow the laboratory’s procedures when the laboratory’s test systems are not within established acceptable levels of performance. Document corrective actions based on laboratory guidelines.
  • Collaborate on SOPs revisions and drafts as needed to adjust for process improvement initiatives and regulatory changes.
  • Document and assist with investigations for non-compliance events via Non-Conformance Events (NCEs), Corrective Action/Preventative Action (CAPAs) and other reports.
  • Participate in reagent and assay quality control and validations and in additional continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Monitor and communicate inventory of supply and reagent needs as they diminish.
  • Assist with implementation of new instruments, equipment and assays.
  • Follow the laboratory’s safety protocols in adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA.
  • If needed, participate in government or regulatory agency inspections.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Manager.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A baccalaureate degree in Medical Laboratory Science with successful completion of a clinical internship, or
  • A baccalaureate degree in a chemical or biological science with academic credits that meet CLIA requirements for high complexity testing with a minimum of 3 years of CAP/CLIA laboratory experience.
  • Molecular lab experience is required.
  • Experience with LIMS.
  • Experience with common laboratory equipment such as liquid handlers (Hamilton STAR), qPCR instruments, plate washers and plate readers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Molecular Biology American Society of Clinical Pathology (MB-ASCP) Certification
  • Experience in Immunochemistry and Clinical Chemistry
  • Experience executing assay validations and preparing associated reports for review by Medical Director

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must have the ability to work in a high-throughput laboratory environment, handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Works successfully as a member of the team, collaborates with teammates to ensure success of company goals.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year

COVID-19 considerations:
Nexus staff will be following full lab protocols appropriate with handling live specimens, as well as complying with the federal vaccine mandate and all CDC guidelines in order to protect staff members from contracting COVID-19 from one another.
