Job Overview
To operate and maintain 40” high speed Heidelberg XL-106 sheet-fed offset printing press producing packaging and commercial print from 1 – 6 colors with various coatings on various substrates.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate Heidelberg XL-106 with coater and direct 2nd Man on press.
- Review work instructions, verify plates, coating blankets, die vinyl’s, inks, substrates and special work instructions if provided on job ticket.
- Review and complete any customer specific documentation to be filled out at press with direction from Pressroom Manager.
- Maintains fountain solutions and documents pH levels.
- Maintains coatings and tests for proper viscosity.
- Bend and mount plates, blankets and packing, torqueing down as described by Heidelberg specifications.
- Set up, monitor, and adjust the printing process on a control panel with either Axis or Inpress color management tools in conjunction with an eXact spectrophotometer.
- Pull timestamp sheets during run to check for printing imperfections and keep for record keeping.
- Accurately enter production data into data collection system press-side.
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly preventative maintenance and document in press-side logbooks.
- Work with Maintenance Manager and Heidelberg tech support on repair and/or troubleshooting.
- Completes quality control procedures and required QA documents.
- Follows all company MIOSHA safety regulations and encourages safe work habits from other crewmembers.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have previous press operator experience, Heidelberg experience a plus.
- Basic understanding of color management, previous G7 and/or GMI guideline experience a plus
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, safety rules.
- Must have the ability to perform basic math.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with other employees and management.
- Critical to maintain good attendance.
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical requirements
Physical ability and stamina sufficient to maintain continuous physical effort throughout shift, including frequent lifting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching and twisting. Physical strength and ability sufficient to perform manual labor for extended periods of time. Manual labor is defined as exerting force sufficient to lift up to 50 lbs.
