About the Position
Town Hall Education is hiring Lead Teaching Artists for onsite classes and offsite in- and after-school programming.
Town Hall Education is the education department at Town Hall Theatre Company in Lafayette. THEd is a process-based program committed to serving students from preschool age through adulthood. Our core values lie in student empowerment and building connection, empathy, trust, and collaboration. We believe all of these lessons can be learned through theatre education and applied in everyday life.
Lead Teaching Artists report to the Education Director.
Main Duties
- Create and implement a lesson plan that meets age appropriate goals and developmental milestones.
- Lead a safe, inclusive, and process-based classroom built to create learning opportunities that specifically draw upon the Developmental Focus outlined for their program’s production.
- Participate in Professional Development and Staff DEIJ Trainings (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice) throughout the year.
- Attend any and all production meetings arranged by the Director of Education.
- Maintain positive parent-teacher relationships.
Experience
Minimum 2 years experience teaching children aged pre-k through high school. Experience and/or current practice in one or more of the following disciplines: theatre; playwriting; directing; vocal and instrumental performance; dance or movement performance; set, costume, or lighting design.
Transportation a bonus, but not required. Town Hall Theatre is BART accessible from the Lafayette station (15 minute walk).

For onsite classes, teachers, staff, and students are required to wear a mask for the duration of class time (regardless of vaccination status).
For offsite classes, teachers and students are asked to follow site specific Covid guidelines.
