Lean Manufacturing Engineer, Tool Storage Job at Matco

This position is based at Matco's Tool Storage manufacturing plant in Lakewood, New York

You will promote & facilitate the successful implementation of Vontier Business System (VBS) tools and processes throughout the Matco Tool Storage plant by conducting sustainable continuous improvement events to support the organization's top priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate Kaizen events and develop on-site associates in VBS tools such as STW, 5S, Lean Conversion, TPI, Value Stream Mapping, VRK, and other VBS Lean Tools to drive organizational change.

  • Be the Lean thinking conscience of the organization. (Walk the Talk)

  • Facilitate Policy Development Meetings with department leaders.

  • Ensure ERP migration is supported with documentation and process improvements before and after “go-live”.

  • Assist in achieving Matco's Policy Deployment and Strategic Plan objectives.

  • Assist leadership in the development of a VBS roadmap and support the execution.

  • Work with the department leaders to develop and maintain Kaizen funnels.

  • Chair monthly Kaizen planning meetings and support facilitation of area strategic plan.

  • Schedule, facilitate and ensure productive Kaizen events.

  • Drive Kaizen newspaper items toward completion & track sustainment.

  • Drive ever-improving results by leveraging BS tools, consulting skills, and change management process.

  • Facilitate VBS training sessions when appropriate

  • Promote and facilitate diagnosis of workflow impediments and other wastes throughout the business, and provide expert counsel on appropriate tools to eliminate them

  • Improve VBS training and facilitation skills by pursuing certification in VBS tools

  • Promote and facilitate associate development in various VBS tools, Lean production, and Kaizen leadership

  • Benchmark within the Vontier organization and communicate “best practices”

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Lean Manufacturing, etc.)

  • Experience owning performance metrics and daily management of a manufacturing work center

  • Demonstrated experience in leading multiple successful Continuous Improvement events

  • Experience working with information systems and data analysis

  • Demonstrated experience with business growth and development

  • Demonstrated experience with transformational change

  • Demonstrated experience with 820 business planning

  • Demonstrated experience with influencing senior leadership on business change process

  • Training and practical experience using Lean manufacturing tools

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the business (CEO to shop floor operators)
