Job Description:
This Case Manager position will report to both the Director of Education and the ILSP Program Coordinator as the position will be shared equally between the two departments.
The position provides case management, administrative and direct support to the Adult ESOL students and teachers as well as other education services programs. Case management should provide referrals to address participants’ specific needs including, but not limited to, employment, training, apprenticeship programming, access to benefits, referrals to physical and mental health facilities, legal services, financial services, and housing.
Working with the legal department, the case manager will facilitate referrals, both internally and externally, to assist clients with needs that fall outside of the scope of immigration legal services, but which, if addressed, will help to further their immigration goals.

Primary Education Case Management Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Case Manager and resource for students; follow-up with students for information, questions and needs including but not limited to education, housing, employment, safety
- On-going professional development with as required under the terms of the ALE Grant.
- Enroll, update and maintain records and student files in the New York State Reporting System and ASISTS, report NYSDOL employment activities and outcomes, utilize Individual Student Record Forms and track participant follow-up with the Standard Survey Instrument in accordance with the New York State Department of Education and New York State Department of Labor guidelines for ALE grant recipients. Maintain additional student files and records according to contract(s) and grant requirements.
- Assist with weekly education intakes and enrollment in ALE funded classes.
- Administer BEST Plus Linguistic Assessments and maintain ongoing administrator certification.
- Connect students to additional community resources as needs arise.
- Maintain an organized office environment.
- Drive clients and use agency vehicle as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Primary Legal Case Management Duties:
- Provide external referrals to address participants’ specific needs, including but not limited to: employment, training, apprenticeship programming, access to benefits, referrals to physical and mental health facilities, legal services, financial services, and housing.
- Provide internal referrals to address participant’s specific needs, including but not limited to: employment, education, Preferred Communities Program case management, vocational training, childcare, and community building groups.
- Administrative duties associated with making referrals, such as filling out and faxing client releases to other agencies and updating case management software to include information pertaining to referrals
- Scheduling interpreters for appointments associated with referral where necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, and an acute attention to detail.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Calendar, and online database systems is required.
- Possess ability to be part of a dynamic team of talented and dedicated individuals while maintaining independence and ability to self-direct
- Driver’s license required.
- Have previous relevant office experience (including filing, letter-drafting, data entry, completion of organizational tasks in a timely manner, etc.)
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor of Social Work or degree in a similar field preferred
- Preference given to bilingual/multilingual candidates
- Preference given to candidates with experience working with diverse populations.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel PivotTables
- Best Plus 2.0 test administrator certification
- TABE administrator certification
