Carson Valley Children’s Aid is seeking Drug & Alcohol Liaisons to join our Student Assistance Program (SAP) in Montgomery County, PA!

Pennsylvania's Student Assistance Program uses a team-based approach to identify and overcome barriers to student success. Each PA public school has a SAP team that addresses substance abuse issues and other concerns within the student population. School personnel and Liaisons work together to help youth, parents, and caregivers navigate these challenges.

Note: SAP is a 10-month program, meaning that it does not operate during the summer when school is out of session. We are currently seeking Liaisons who can begin work in Fall 2023.

Vaccination Requirements: Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (2 doses of Moderna/Pfizer or 1 dose of Janssen)

Role Type: Fee-for-Service

Work Schedule: Up to 30 hours per week. Shifts are 6 hours per day. Liaisons’ schedules align with the hours of their assigned school(s). SAP does not operate during the summer or on holidays when school is out.

Work Setting:

• Elementary, middle, and high schools in Montgomery County
• School districts: Norristown, Upper Merion, Lower Merion, Methacton, Colonial

Essential Job Functions:

• Serve as a member of the school’s SAP team, providing on-site consultation related to drug and alcohol issues.
• Maintain knowledge of local child-serving systems as well as procedures for accessing behavioral health resources.
• Determine appropriate interventions and resources for each identified student.
• Help parents and caregivers to access services for their children, serving as an advocate within the healthcare system.
• Facilitate prevention-focused student education groups and classroom presentations regularly.
• Become familiar with school culture, SAP procedures, and relevant policies for assigned schools.
• Consult with school personnel regarding strategies to engage parents in the SAP process.
• Link schools and families to emergency and crisis intervention services as needed.
• Assist with “post-intervention” efforts in the event of any tragic incidents that may adversely affect the school community.

Role Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field such as psychology, social work, public health, health education, etc. (required)

• Bachelor’s level hourly billable range: $20-24/hour
• Master’s level hourly billable range: $25-28/hour

1+ years of experience working with children, youth, and families (required)

Reliable transportation to work (required)
