Statement of Purpose
A Lifeguard is responsible for the constant safety and well-being of all Members at all times while providing prompt and friendly service per KBYC standards. The Lifeguard plays a key role in each and every Member’s experience, directly and indirectly. They know how to help their coworkers while also having the ability to know when to ask for help. The Lifeguard supervises swimmers and spectators, enforces safety protocols, and identifies life-threatening situations. The Lifeguard goes above and beyond to exceed Member expectations during all Member interactions.
Primary Duties
· Greet all members and guests entering and leaving the pool area.
· Enforcing pool rules/regulations and protecting lives.
· Patrolling and observing the pool area.
· Administering First Aid and/or CPR as needed.
· Maintains cleanliness of the pool, equipment, pool deck, and common areas at all times.
· May need to perform minor pool maintenance duties.
· Act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of all members and their guests in the facility.
· Provide emergency care and treatment until the arrival of emergency services.
· All other duties as assigned and appropriate.

· Ability to work long hours with a strong focus on operational excellence.
· Ability to understand the flow of service and handle multiple tasks effectively.
· Ability to follow KBYC service standards.

· Ability to understand effective approaches of communication with different individuals.
· Ability to communicate clearly with peers and superiors.
· Responds well to questions. Listens to others without interrupting. Obtains clarification when necessary.
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Language Skills
· Verbal and written communication skills in English is required.
· Verbal and written communication skills in Spanish is preferred.
· Verbal communication skills in other languages is a plus.

Education and Certificates
· High School qualification or equivalent is required.
· Lifeguard Certification is required.
Experience
· A minimum of 1-year lifeguard experience in a high volume, upscale establishment is required.
Other
· Ability to work in an outdoor environment in a hot climate.
· May be required to lift up to 30 lbs.
· Ability to work long hours while standing, sitting, reaching, bending, stretching and lifting frequently.
· Upbeat, outgoing and positive. Reacts well under pressure.
· Available to work late nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours as necessary.
