Responsibilities:
1. Monitors quality of incoming raw material and finished product.
2. Supervises consistently and fairly.
3. Ensures assemblers who report to the line meet dress code and other food safety requirements (follow GMP’s).
4. Directs department employees with positive motivation to produce a quality product in an efficient manner.
5. Contacts support staff when manufacturing issues arise.
6. Is familiar with and complies with SQF Food Safety standards and ensures all product produced meets assigned standards. Ensures employees know what to do if quality is not within specs.
7. Responsible for line set-up of new jobs, ensuring line clearance from previous jobs, cleanliness, staffing and startup.
8. Directs personnel on startup of new jobs and ensures that special instructions, packing, and quality control requirements are understood and followed.
9. Strives to meet the goals of the company while balancing the needs of departmental personnel.
10. Completes paperwork ensuring pertinent information is recorded.
11. Liaison communication with Production Manager to ensure timely completion of product.
12. Responsible for working safely and maintaining a safe work environment: attends required training, identifies and reports hazards; wears required PPE for position; and is accountable for self as well as co-worker safety.
13. Understands allergen guidelines and if allergens present and how to properly clean and segregate to keep from cross contamination.
14. Promotes teamwork and positive relations among all contacts by setting positive examples to their staff.
15. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing tasks as needed. Provides strong leadership to production personnel. Always maintains a professional appearance and attitude.
16. Oversees sanitation of assembly work area(s).

Requirements:

- Operating experience in a manufacturing environment helpful.
- Working knowledge of SQF Food Safety requirements and continuous improvement methods.
- Ability to perform diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Able to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and manufacturing personnel.
- Good organizational and decision making skills.
- Ability to solve problems and remain detail oriented while meeting critical deadlines with changing priorities.
- Knowledge of packaging processes and quality control principles.
- Ability to work well with people and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work as a team member at all levels throughout the organization.
