Position Description

Position Overview

The Loader Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy and complex equipment requiring skill and the exercise of independent judgment.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties & Functions)

• Load material from stockpiles, charges batch plants, and loads trucks.
• Oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
• Operate front end loader and skid steer loader equipment safely and efficiently.
• Responsible for safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.
• Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging.
• Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
• Knowledge of trenching and shoring standards.
• Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
• Keep time and material records.
• Fill cold feed bins, maintain stockpiles, yard, and road areas
• Knowledge of weight requirements of loads leaving the pit.
• Travel from interstate highway to rural dirt roads from various locations.

Skills & Specifications

• Mechanical, cutting, and welding skills preferred.
• Ability to understand follow verbal and written instructions.
• Knowledge in operating heavy equipment and the hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations and construction sites.
• Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
• Must be willing travel and work away from home when required.
• Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
• Will require all state required associated licenses for machinery operation.

Education/Professional Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent education; and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 1-year prior experience operating a CAT 966 or similar loader is required.
