We are looking for Machine Learning Engineers with a diverse set of backgrounds to join us.

We are seeking highly qualified ML engineers to work on ML-enabled services and tools focusing on customer and item listing data enabling next-gen experiences, further empowering our buyers and sellers. You will approach some of the most interesting AI problems eBay is facing in this area. Join our tightly-knit team of applied researchers and engineers who enjoy working on large-scale, challenging, and exciting problems. We work in focused and collaborative project teams following an agile methodology. You will feel like you’re working in a startup, while at the same time having the resources of a large company.

Responsibilities:

• Work on the cutting edge applied research on modeling customer and item data; Evaluate and Investigate on applying new algorithms and define algorithmic measures
• Develop and improve ML applications
• Work closely with engineers and other multi-functional teams, including Applied Researchers, Project Managers, etc.
• Visible across major Engineering organizations, and regularly visible through external forums such as conferences, workshops, or open source initiatives
• Collaborate with other research and engineering teams in eBay to build the best of breed experience

Requirements

• Experience building performant inference pipelines on very large datasets, ML features/services, and ML models using best practices
• Experience with building knowledge graphs is a plus
• 3+ years of experience
• Ph.D. or master degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics or related discipline
• Solid understanding of ML tools and frameworks (Spark, Tensorflow, Pytorch, etc.)
• Proficient in at least one of the following languages: Python, Java, C++
• Experience in large scale research projects that resulted in working and scalable products, or a publication record in top AI conferences/journals is a plus

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York City is expected in the range below.

$135,200 - $205,700

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
