The Environmental, Health & Safety Engineer (Engineer being generic for Professional, Chemist, Manager) is responsible for the implementation and execution of the environmental management system for Magnolia Plant including the areas of air emissions, hazardous waste, operator certification, asbestos management, spill response, auditing, SARA, stormwater, PCB management, environmental file maintenance, and associate training. The EHS Engineer position is responsible for being knowledgeable of the regulations applicable to the location and for staying abreast of state-of-the-art treatment and abatement technologies. The EHS Engineer is responsible for participating in programs for the minimization and elimination of waste streams to all media (land, air, and water).
This position is located at the Milliken Magnolia Plant located in Blacksburg, SC and reports to the Engineering Services Manager. Typical hours are Monday—Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. However, due to continuous operations of the plant, the work schedule may require arriving before 8:00 am, staying beyond 5:00 pm.
General Environmental :
The EHS Engineer will maintain ISO14001 to include training, compliance audits, document updates, annual management meeting, etc.
Will be responsible for the renewal and reporting of the following permits: to include Title V (Air Quality) and NPDES
Will conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections of Stormwater (SWPPP) / Utility Water
Will conduct ESP cleans (scheduled 1 Sunday/month)
Haz/Non-Haz Waste – waste tracking and disposal including Asbestos and Lead
SARA tracking and reporting
Environmental Incidents tracking and reporting including Enablon activities
Health/Safety :
In addition to the Environmental responsibilities, this role includes emphasis on Health and Safety for the entire facility.
Safety compliance including but not limited to industrial hygiene, radiation, and new chemical/change management process.
Enablon incident reporting, follow up and completion
Entering safety hours and Entropy data in Enablon
Training :
Maintain the environmental training process including but not limited to annual environmental training, DOT training, and waste disposal training for engineering
Other job expectations :
Be responsive to any community concerns, bring any such concerns to the attention of location management, and consult with Corporate Environmental for advice
Bring any matter thought to be of regulatory interest to the immediate attention of location management
Perform other assignments as requested by management
Work with Process Improvement, Production Management, and Engineering Services to ensure environmental compliance and waste reduction
