GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Maintaining the various lighting systems throughout the Museum, such as: fluorescent, incandescent, low voltage, track lighting, LED and dimming systems. Required to operate and maintain electrical and mechanical rigs and lifts.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Maintain the various lighting systems throughout the Museum, such as: fluorescent, incandescent, low voltage, track lighting, LED and dimming systems.
- Maintain inventory of bulbs, fixtures, and other supplies as needed.
- Lamp or relamp special exhibitions and galleries.
- Keep shop areas, work areas and storage rooms clean.
- Keep laylights and lighting fixtures clean throughout the Museum.
- Operate and maintain electrical and mechanical rigs and lifts.
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience and Skills:
- Knowledge of bulbs and lighting systems.
- Basic knowledge of electricity.
- Ability to work safely on ladders, scissor lifts, confined spaces and to work in high places
- Knowledge and experience working with hand tools, power tools and electrical testers.
- Follow Museum policies, guidelines and fall protection rules.
- Work well with others and work as a team.
Knowledge and Education:
- High school or trade school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of lighting systems and dimmer systems.
- Knowledge of Ohm's law, electrical theory and electrical circuity.
Compensation Range:
- Pay Rate: $22.33894/hour
- The advertised starting salary rate reflects the good faith minimum and maximum hourly rate for this role. Starting salary rates are set in accordance with established union rates provided by the economic agreement as established and negotiated by DC 37 and the City of New York, Office of Labor Relations. Incumbent rates may vary depending on an individual employee’s seniority status, and/or based on terms as provided by the DC 37 Local 1503 and Museum collective bargaining agreement.
