How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
Position Title: Maintenance Manager
Location: This position can be based in Houston, TX or Plumsteadville, PA (Airgas Specialty Gases)
Travel: Up to 50%

Plan, direct, and coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance activities, and small to medium project management at all ASG facilities.
In particular, you will:
  • Ensure the scheduling of corrective and preventive and predictive maintenance work on facilities and all facility equipment including pumps, compressors, valves, manifolds, safety devices, scales, pressure indicators, bulk tanks, etc.
  • Assist in development of project scope, design and costing at facilities
  • Ensure compliance with MOC process on all maintenance and project activities
  • Provide justification for projects by calculating cost savings and/or revenue enhancements.
  • Assist in writing CARs and obtaining funding for projects
  • On site project management: - Oversee contractors, track spend vs. budget, track time vs. target, reporting of progress at all stages of project.
  • Work with safety and operations groups for commissioning of process, start up, and release to operations
  • Provide detailed design and specifications for plant upgrade and new installation projects to include P&ID drawings and equipment specifications
  • Assist operations management and plants in implementation of upgrades to Airgas Engineering standards
  • Develop equipment lists and engineering drawings to define projects
  • Develop bid packages and work with contractors to obtain accurate quotations
  • Work with plants and operations management to ensure efficient and safe installation of process systems and equipment
  • Review existing processes and equipment to ensure compliance and maximize efficiency
  • Adhere to all SMS, GEG, Spec Gas and Industrial SOPs, and Airgas/ASL site work safety rules and risk management requirements.
  • Supervise work conducted by the Maintenance Technicians and ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality programs.
  • Manage maintenance shop work areas for safety, health, and environmental compliance.
  • Manage purchase orders and receipt of maintenance related tools and equipment.
  • Monitor/Develop spare parts inventory to minimize production impact during equipment service, repair, or replacement.
  • Coordinate contract services for maintenance repairs and calibration when necessary.
  • Issue hazardous work permits according to policy.
  • Manage employee vacation, overtime, work schedules, training, and recordkeeping.
  • Ensure the control of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 maintenance records for all plant equipment.
  • Define, track and report KPI's on maintenance
  • Load all equipment into CMMS system
  • Ensure that all PM's, PdM's are loaded and maintained in the CMMS system
  • Perform PM Optimization and make recommendations accordingly
  • Track maintenance cost by item and recommend action plans to address high cost items
  • Capable of managing a remote workforce

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or 5+ years experience
  • Minimum of 5 years operations experience in the cylinder gas/specialty gas industry. Must have some level of project management and engineering experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to use AutoCAD or Visio to produce P&IDs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals using the English language.
  • Must have a high level of mechanical ability and aptitude.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to communicate up and down the organization are required.
  • Must have good organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent's.
