Position: FACILITIES MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

JOB DESCRIPTION
The primary function of this position is to plan and execute day-to-day activities of the distribution center as it relates to maintenance, including requesting and coordinating subcontracted services as needed. Responsible for maintaining the facilities upkeep, regular general maintenance needs, and repair work.
DUTIES
- Maintain preventative maintenance and general repairs on all Petra/Sela buildings, including but not limited to, maintenance and repairs on pneumatic and conveyer equipment.
- Act as principal contact between facility maintenance/repair contractors to coordinate work schedules and projects for our facilities.
- Report to the Director of DC Operations daily for assigned work and projects.
- Diagnose and repair issues with conveying system, cardboard baler, trash compactors and other equipment used in Petra/Sela buildings.
- Work with departments in coordination for planning and scheduling of facility maintenance work.
- Communicate with requester to determine total scope of work and priority of the work to be performed. Keep requester apprised as the status of the work order until completion.
- Coordinate, direct, and ensure maintenance providers are performing work in a manner consistent with quality required.
- Identify resources required to execute the requested work. Verify the availability of those resources prior to scheduling the work or arrange for appropriate alternatives.
- Estimate job requirements utilizing information from Director of DC Operations on allowed budget numbers.
- Submit written notification to departments to coordinate any planned shutdowns, maintenance work, or service activities that could have an impact on business operations.
- Track work order history and status, as well as repair costs.
- Recommend, coordinate, and help manage project completion which may include working with outside vendors.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, planning or performance through analysis of work order flow, project demands, and expectations.
- Grounds upkeep with some maintenance of trees, shrubs, mulch application, and watering of trees. This also includes pond, fountain, and sprinkler monitoring and general landscaping needs outside the realm of our contracted landscape company.
- Perform general repair work and any other in-house building maintenance, including but not limited to, cosmetic problems and general repairs
- Take calls from the alarm companies, DC personnel, etc. for on-call requests and repairs.
- Remains familiar and compliant with all company policies and procedures in the performance of job duties and regarding individual activities and behaviors.
- Maintains acceptable attendance in accordance with company policies and departmental standards.
- Conducts self in a professional, courteous, respectful and friendly manner at all times when interacting with coworkers, clients or vendors.
- Other duties assigned as needed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of building maintenance and repair responsibilities.
- Pneumatic mechanical repair experience preferred.
- Conveyer setup and repair experience preferred.
SKILLS & CERTIFICATION
Skills:
- Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices involved in maintenance of buildings and structures.
- Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the facilities construction, maintenance, and repair.
- Self-motivation and assertiveness: a “take charge” attitude in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in an unsupervised environment.
- Well developed interpersonal skills in both a verbal and written format.
- Ability to prioritize and work multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
- Forklift Certified.
Typical Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform moderate/heavy physical work and to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and twisting of body.
- Possesses hand/eye/foot coordination adequate to repair equipment and facilities, to operate equipment.
- Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
