Position Overview:
The qualified individual will supervise a team of maintenance technicians through the daily activities of repairs and maintenance of all material handling equipment and facilities in order to meet operational and facility needs for a multi-shift, fast-paced distribution environment
Responsibilities:
- Delegate and supervise daily work assignments and activities and monitor as necessary to maintain timely and accurate completion of assigned work
- Direct and develop staff in all maintenance activities including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic maintenance, HVAC, lighting and repair of MHE and conveyors
- Coach and counsel associates to resolve performance related issues and administer feedback to include performance appraisal discussions
- Work closely with operations staff on problems associated with material handling equipment and facility needs
- Keep the distribution center, its equipment, and facilities, in excellent condition
- Provide consistent enforcement of work rules
- Support team building at all levels within the distribution environment
- Analyze defects and failures in the above-referenced areas and ensure resolution with minimal disruption to daily operation of material handling systems and facility needs
- Manage preventive maintenance schedule on material handling equipment
- Examine equipment, processes, operations, and assembly to determine time or quality revisions and suggest improvement
- Purchase and maintain inventory for parts and equipment
- Monitor supplies and spare parts and ensure they are at appropriate levels
- Perform work related to planning, devising, or adapting methods to improve warehouse production methods
- Complete bi-weekly audit of associate timecards, monitor attendance, create daily staffing plan for organizing resources to hit daily goals
- Communicate and enforce safe work practices to prevent accidents
- Conduct weekly meetings to communicate department goals, safe standards and building updates, priorities and changes to associates assume additional duties and responsibilities as required to meet the established goals of the facility
- Be able to communicate with vendors and contractor as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years previous Maintenance supervisory experience
- Must have previous experience working with CMMS reporting
- Hands-on electrical and material handling, conveyor control and maintenance experience (trade school or two-year degree a plus)
- Knowledge of high-speed sortation and complex integrated MHE systems
- Familiarity with Dematic conveyor systems a plus and CMMS
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, as well as interface and negotiate with vendors
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and plan and execute responsibilities on schedule, ability to prioritize activities, direct, and motivate a team to achieve maximum results in their daily work
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills and ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
- Strong knowledge of Computer Maintenance Management software and proven ability to utilize its full capacity
- PC knowledge, including the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
- Thorough knowledge of occupational safety and health standards and the ability to maintain a safe working environment for all staff
- Have an understanding of LOTO processes as it pertains to the maintenance field
- Have the ability to flexible with shifts, hours and weekend schedules
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
