Chemours is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join our growing Operations team! This position will report directly to the Mine Manager at our Nahunta, GA location.
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the development and safe execution of preventive and emergent maintenance plans for the site 24-hours per day, 7-days per week, maximizing equipment availability and reducing downtime. The Supervisor will serve as maintenance coordinator for the site, analyzing maintenance cost and workorder completion performance, analyze and report maintenance related downtime data, and support/lead equipment Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Ensure all work is performed within company, state, and federal regulations, standards, statutes, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify and promote opportunities to improve mine safety performance, act as a safety leader.
  • Coordinate all maintenance activities from planning to execution, strategy, prioritize and delegate workorders to minimize backlog while maximizing availability and uptime.
  • Lead down-day planning to accomplish required work per agreed cost and schedule.
  • Monitor daily reports tracking plant performance, downtime issues and engage operations to discuss, understand, and communicate impact of maintenance related issues.
  • Coordinate with production teams and offer maintenance expertise and support to ensure consistent performance at maximum demonstrated rates.
  • Offer guidance and support to maintenance personnel to further develop in-house technical expertise.
  • Participate in the weekly meetings and be prepared to report on work order performance and summary of maintenance related downtime to include action items and follow up from meeting discussions.
  • Update information system (SAP) to ensure accurate information is maintained.
  • Effectively communicate challenges and opportunities with Site/Business Management Team via written reports and presentations
  • Report all personal injuries and EHS incidents and assist with both safety and environmental investigations.
  • Maximize plant availability & reliability consistent with budgets & plans by ensuring the most efficient application of available resources.
  • Manage maintenance costs by monitoring and reporting cost variances from budget, and where necessary, amending plans/forecasts or operational activities.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks in conjunction with operations personnel and maintenance planner.
  • Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in all assigned areas.
  • Analyze and report maintenance related downtime data, RCFA results to operations management.
  • Lead improvement programs and WAVE/Transformation initiatives for maintenance work areas.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to maintenance employees.
  • Improve the skills and effectiveness of team members through challenging assignments and development. Ensure that personnel training requirements are identified and completed.
  • Responsible for the performance management process within the maintenance team (goal setting, performance measurement, recognition, feedback, coaching & counseling)
  • Establish effective communications systems within the maintenance team focused on sharing of information and engaging employees in the success of the facility
  • Serve as Minerals S4/HANA Site Engagement Coordinator, actively participating and ensuring successful roll-out for all Minerals sites.
The following is required for this role:
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 10 years’ experience as Qualified mechanic to include +2-yrs maintenance management.
  • Experience with safety processes and systems including safety improvement processes, audits and developing safe behaviors.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data, identify solutions, assess risk factors, and make sound business decisions.
  • Proven strong oral and written skills with the ability to communicate effectively with Technical, Maintenance and other site work groups.
The following is preferred for this role:
  • Engineer with +2-yrs of maintenance experience
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certified/Lean Manufacturing Methodology Knowledge preferred or any Continuous Improvement certification.
