Maintenance Technician Job at Platte River Concrete Co.

BASIC FUNCTION:Responsible for servicing all company plants, equipment and tools in a professional, timely, safe and cost effective manner. Respects the authority of Management, and performs assigned responsibilities to ensure completion in as a professional, timely, safe and cost effective manner as possible. Maintain and guarantee Platte River Concrete’s safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS: Two years maintenance experience. Proven ability to operate and maintain company trucks and equipment (mixer trucks, bulker trucks, tools, etc.) conducive to performing job responsibilities, conforming to company personnel and safety procedures and policies. Must be a “competent” person in safety regulations. Physical stamina includes the following frequency of task:

a) Working up to 10-14 hrs. a day.

b) Lift up to 100 lbs. utilizing safe and proper lifting techniques and equipment.

c) Safely climb in and out of vehicles, and up and down plant stairs and ladders, multiple times a day.

d) Ability to sit, stand, kneel and walk 8-14 hrs. a day

e) Work well under pressure meeting project schedules and budget guidelines, 8-14 hrs. a day, and be flexible and available to work required overtime upon request.

f) Endure climatic temperature extremes, 8-14 hrs. a day and the ability (based on physical health) to work in confined spaces.

g) Operate/repair properly and safely, tools of the trade (electric power tools, air tools, welder, etc.), equipment.

Employee must understand the importance of wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include:

a) Ankle high, laced work boots or shoes that cover the entire foot and ankle.

b) Safety glasses are to be worn at all times except when driving motorized vehicles/trucks, entering the employee break room, and entering the office.

c) Hearing protection when exposed to noise occurring in intensity that exceeds an average of 85 decibels.

d) Shirts or T-shirts with 4” or more sleeves that meet safety and company professional standards.

e) Long pants, jeans or heavy work coveralls to protect the legs that meet safety and company professional standards.

f) Hard hats when working in areas that present overhead hazards and in a confined space, or as required by company or client contractual request.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Employee is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements. Approval of pre-employment reference check, skill assessment testing, drug/alcohol and medical evaluation. Proof of valid license and MVR (motor vehicle report), and other requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide service to client contractors, customers and co-workers conforming to Platte River Concrete Co. quality, safety and professional (punctuality, reliability, language, personal hygiene, clothing , etc.) standards. Promote and apply company work ethic, quality and safety standards.

2. Assist Management by inspecting and servicing all plants, equipment and tools to ensure Platte River Concrete Co. quality and safety standards.

3. Perform set-up, operate machinery, vehicles, equipment and tools (trucks, misc. hand tools, etc.) necessary to ensure completion of quality work.

4. Direct company inquiries and concerns to General Manager (i.e., mechanical/equipment deficiencies, supplies, etc.)

5. Ensure that all paperwork is completed and signed, including time cards and inspection reports, in an accurate and timely manner, and that it complies with company standards, and is legally sound.

6. Attend required safety and production meetings with General Manager and/or Safety for planning and organizing current and future servicing schedules, and work site safety policies and procedures.

7. Attend all company sponsored training events, including required re-certification and/or education requirements targeted for continuing personal growth and development.

8. Personally adhere to and be an example by conforming to the company’s Injury Prevention Program and manufacturer’s operation guidelines. Become proficient and “competent” in areas of equipment, vehicles and tool repair. Utilize safety procedures to include, defensive driving, vehicle and equipment maintenance and up-keep; technical training, lockout/tagout, confines space, accident injury, Hazcom, emergency exit, personal protective, lifting, tool safety, etc.

9. Attend safety training talks and assist management in promoting awareness, respect and teamwork by serving the committee on a rotating basis, in a non-adversarial, cooperative effort to promote safety at each work site.

10. Responsible for equipment, tools, and supplies as follows:

a. Be responsible for assigned company tools and equipment, and maintain/record an inventory of all shop tools and equipment.

b. Organize equipment, tools, and supplies on a daily basis.

c. Perform required paperwork, inspections and schedule required cleaning and maintenance of company plants, equipment, and tools to ensure that equipment is in safe working condition.

d. Acquire the supplies needed through General Manager or Safety Director to perform your job promptly, accurately, safely and professionally.

11. Responsible for regularly scheduled housekeeping.

12. Report to Manager of any failure to adhere to OSHA, LB757, EEO and /or Platte River Concrete Co. professional standards.

13. Report to Management any deviation from scheduling or budget guidelines that may become potential liabilities or driver complaints.

14. Respect the authority of management.

15. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
