Under the leadership of the Dean of Students, the Office of Student Advocacy and Assistance is seeking a Manager to provide supervision, direction and guidance to team members in developing supportive action plans for students who are experiencing circumstances that are or may interfere with academic success. The Manager will manage a complex caseload in collaboration with student services and university and community partners in creating a success plan by connecting students with appropriate services and resources. The Manager will assist the Director in providing oversight of the front office administrative functions and assist in developing strategies to increase Dean of Students Office efficiencies and customer service levels. The Manager plays a critical role in the direct support of students and ensures they receive appropriate interventions, referrals, follow-up services and monitoring in order to maximize student success. This position reports to the Director of Student Advocacy and Assistance.

Essential Duties

  • Provide case management of difficult, complex student situations involving multiple touch points across the university; to include Title IX situations.
  • Manage and respond to critical incidents and crisis situations.
  • Problem solve complex situations; create and implement action plans to support student needs.
  • Communicate difficult and sensitive information with relevant parties in a traumainformed manner.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned professional and student staff.
  • Serve as the administrator for case management database.
  • Assist with development and implementation of policies, procedures and objectives.
  • Develop and prepare internal and external administrative reports, documents and process flows.
  • Provide data collection and analysis of unit service functions as it pertains to areas of oversight.
  • Assist with management of the student crisis fund.
  • Achieve results that support retention efforts through effective communication and collaborative relationships with various university departments.
  • Develop and deliver educational presentations designed to increase the awareness of campus and community resources.
  • Represent the Dean of Students Office by serving on university committees and workgroups.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Nine (9) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience in Excel and managing and interpreting data.

  • Climb stairs in locations with no elevator, such as with the mezzanine level of the MU, or Irish Hall
