Summary

The Opportunity

Hyatt’s Manager of Data Transformation will help guide the evolution of Hyatt's data culture, enabling it to operate more strategically and efficiently with data. Key areas of focus will include:

  • Helping to manage key senior-level councils and committees focused on data strategy and processes
  • Encouraging the evolution of Hyatt’s Talent Architecture including a common framework of roles, competencies, and career progressions for technical staff
  • Encouraging wide alignment around Hyatt’s Data Operating Model encompassing how data is moved, stored, and managed around Hyatt
  • Transforming data asset management including auditing/overseeing the development of data assets in partnership with colleagues assigned to each data topic
  • Led select cross-functional initiatives that leverage new data or new data flows tied to important business outcomes and reinforce the Operating Model.

This role will partner with key stakeholders across the business, including executive management, data privacy, cybersecurity, data stewards, business data owners in functional domains, technology teams, and other enterprise functions. The role will elevate awareness and educate business owners on enterprise data initiatives, including Hyatt’s data strategy, data fluency, the Hyatt data operating model, data governance, data policy, metadata management, and data quality.

Qualifications

Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Educate the enterprise (business, technology, and data teams) on Hyatt's Data and Analytics operating model and playbook. Identify and facilitate discussions around areas where either process improvements or the Operating model needs adjustment.
  • Help support Hyatt's Data and Analytics Steering Committee and the Data Analytics and Stewardship Council by preparing a regular cadence of meaningful discussion forums
  • Work with Hyatt’s human resources organization to deepen consistency of data and analytics roles and career paths across the operating model.
  • Guide the development of and maintain a repository of job descriptions and competencies across core Data and Analytics team technical roles. Support consistent data and analytics calibration and promotion planning activities by maintaining and improving competency matrices and job descriptions.
  • Encourage wide alignment around Hyatt’s data Operating Model encompassing how data is moved, stored, and managed around
  • Responsible for standards/auditing of the development and launch of Hyatt’s Data Catalog, a tool that will expand knowledge and optimal use of Hyatt’s data. (Curation will primarily be driven by data asset assignees).
  • Elevate awareness and educate business owners on enterprise data quality initiatives, including data governance, data policy, master data and metadata management, and data quality through the Data Stewardship Council and other avenues.
  • Responsible for standards/auditing of the development and launch of Hyatt’s Data Catalog, a tool that will expand knowledge and optimal use of Hyatt’s data. (Curation will primarily be driven by data asset assignees).
  • Led select cross-functional initiatives that leverage new data or new data flows tied to important business outcomes and that reinforce/showcase the Operating Model in action
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Hyatt's core values

Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of total work experience in a combination of strategy, analytic or change management consulting or corporate roles, or in the functional areas of product or program management, business strategy, or data analytics
  • Minimum of 5 years of team leadership experience and cross-functional influence
  • Self-directed, well organized, and have good follow-up skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication & presentation skills including using PowerPoint to frame discussions and drive decisions
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of problem-solving and improving the status quo
  • Strong relationship-building skills, coupled with high business acumen
  • Highly flexible with the ability to change direction as requested or handle ambiguous responsibilities to drive results, especially in a matrixed or influence-based environment
  • Detail-oriented, curious, nuanced thinker with the ability to also work, develop, and think at a strategic level.
  • Passion for working with/coaching teams to dig into data, processes, and issues to identify root-cause issues and design and roll out remedies
  • Intermediate SQL skills (with Python a plus) to prepare and facilitate cross-functional discussions on data quality and data asset management with Hyatt’s Data Stewards and/or to help guide/monitor Enterprise Data Catalog development

Education

  • Minimum: BA/BS Bachelor’s Degree; preferred Master’s Degree in Business Administration

Computer Skills Needed to Perform this Job

  • Intermediate SQL, Advanced PowerPoint, and Excel skills
