Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess, and document current training programs and future training needs. Develop curriculum and training programs through coordination with internal training and support teams, subject matter experts, and the Learning and Development department within Human Resources with the goal of enabling a diverse group of employees to perform more effectively and efficiently while encouraging growth and promotion within the department through career path progression.
  • Manage all aspects of sustaining and continuously improving a leadership program for the staff of multiple UT departments.
  • Monitor, evaluate, analyze and report on all training programs’ effectiveness, success, and return on investment. Implement adoption and evaluation plans to foster employee engagement and continuous training improvements. Deliver quarterly performance metrics for training, and recommend and implement strategies to improve training program policies and procedures as needed.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and timely training-related communications for internal and external stakeholders. Establish working relationships with leadership and subject matter experts. Offer training assistance to employees as needed. Provide Assistant Director with regular updates on all training-related projects.
  • Manage training budget. Identify external training opportunities and resources to ensure the most effective use of the training budget. Contract with vendors on behalf of department leadership, and host vendors delivering on-site training.
  • Track training compliance using the UT-Austin staff learning management system and custom-built SharePoint tools, and provide quarterly training status reports for upcoming and overdue training.
  • Oversee training records to ensure employees attend University and departmental required training to comply with University, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Keep up with new developments and best practices in the training field for the purpose of developing and promoting the training team as well as implementing effective training methods.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field. Five years of experience developing and managing a training program for a medium to large organization, and for a diverse group of employees, including trades, administrative, professional, and management-level staff. Strong commitment to service excellence. Demonstrated knowledge of management techniques, including reporting, budgeting, internal controls, personnel and performance measures. Professional demeanor. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presenting to large audiences. Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in a related field. Ten years of experience developing and managing a training program for a medium to large department in higher education. Proficiency with Articulate 360, or similar authoring tools. Extensive experience with blended and online modes of educational delivery.

Work Shift
