What You'll Do

Summary:
Under the Supervision of the Director of Volunteer & Auxiliary Services, this position requires understanding of best practices in volunteer engagement, management and planning. This position is responsible for managing the operations of their assigned departments, and leading a team of both staff and volunteers. Responsible for developing programs to address staff and volunteer needs within assigned departments. Manages/supervises volunteers and staff to maintain optimal effectiveness within assigned areas.

Responsibilities:
1. Directly supervises staff in assigned areas. Prepares and administers employee evaluations and disciplinary conferences. Maintains employee personnel files and supports training and mentoring of staff. Responsible for Kronos and payroll accuracy for assigned staff.
2. Assists the Director of Volunteer Services with the overall maintenance and operation of the assigned Volunteer Program network wide.
3. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of network’s strategic plan in order to investigate and establish new areas of service, both short- and long-term, throughout the hospital system.
4. Conducts the research, design and implementation of programs and processes to optimize the utilization of volunteers and strengthen volunteer engagement impact on organizational priorities.
5. Researches and implements best practices for recruiting and retaining a robust and diverse corps of volunteers.
6. Responsible for maintenance of quality customer service in assigned areas. Manages and provides follow up for any suggestions or complaints. Informs Director of Volunteer Services as appropriate.
7. Recommends and implements appropriate education for volunteers, as required the appropriate regulatory agencies. Manages and oversees continuing education records for volunteers in assigned departments.
8. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures related to the volunteer function.
9. Supports the Director of Volunteer Services regarding departmental costs. Maintains awareness of budget and strategic plan. Structures programs to meet budget and strategic goals.
10. Networks and cultivates relationships with area non-profit organizations, governmental agencies and volunteer professional organizations.
11. Manages volunteer data storage processes to maximize service delivery, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
12. Assists co-workers, volunteers, visitors and patients as needed to promote efficiency and a positive atmosphere.
Position Requirements

Credentials:
Education:
BS/BA Degree

Other information:
1. Education: BS/BA Degree with a minimum 3 years' volunteer oversight and coordination experience required. Preference given to degrees in management, psychology, health care admin, business/communication or other related field.
2. Licensure/Certifications: none required. After 5 years, Certificate of Volunteer Management or CAVS is preferred
3. Experience: Minimum 3 years’ volunteer oversight and coordination experience required.
Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Individual will possess commensurate combination of education, experience and qualifications.
