Job Summary
The Network Services Manager will be responsible for managing the design and integrity of Vistra’s internal network, including customer-facing hosted and cloud environment connectivity. They will manage the necessary planning, analysis and design tasks related to the development of an overall network architecture for Vistra. They will partner and work closely with key strategic vendors, service providers as well as other internal IT teams. The Manager is also responsible for hiring, training, and leading a mid-size team of employees and contractors, as needed, that understand and demonstrate the culture and values of Technology Services.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
  • Manage the process of designing, developing, deploying and maintaining tools and processes to support operations for Technology
  • Lead team to document and educate users about relevant processes
  • Ensure alignment between processes and toolsets, modifying systems where needed to deliver desired results
  • Measure and improve process and tool maturity and compliance
  • Oversee execution of operational activities and measure process quality and compliance (incident handling, process execution, etc.)
  • Establish roadmap to maintain currency, incorporate new features, and delivery TS objectives through technology solutions
  • Partner with other teams to identify dependencies and align roadmaps
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
  • Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications in Business, Computer Science or Information Systems
  • 10+ years of working in an IT environment
  • 3-5 years of technology team management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and teaming skills
  • Ability to navigate technology environment and work effectively with multiple teams
  • Demonstrated ability to be trustworthy and dependable
  • Ability to learn quickly, be self motivated to improve knowledge and tackle new challenges
  • Ability to prioritize requests to deliver highest-impacting items first.
  • Articulate business value of solutions within their scope

Additional Key Accountabilities:
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Manage the Design, install and support of Routing, Switching and Security/Zero Trust technologies in the WAN/LAN environment
  • Manage collecting business and applications requirements for corporate data and voice networks
  • Manage the assessment and troubleshooting of overall network architecture and making recommendations for enhancements that will improve network performance, security, and efficiency.
  • Collaborating with other technology services managers and business managers as well as analysts, applications developers, and security analysts to create detailed requirements that specify the functional architecture of the system
  • Review solution requirements for reasonability and conformance to project constraints. Ensure that the project scope is aligned to the agreed deliverable, identify divergence of scope and escalate to the appropriate managers
  • Closely work with the development, security and vendor teams to ensure tight alignment of objectives and expectations. Ensure that the developed solution matches the required solution.
  • Manage the technology architecture review and following up on questions or issues identified during the review
  • Manage the development of final network design documentation including Visio or Draw.io diagrams of the defined solution and any relevant written documentation that will support and drive the final solution
  • Keep all network architecture and supporting documentation current
  • Collaborate with business unit project managers and customer base to determine changes that will be required to implement approved service requests where required
  • Maintaining data about the reference architectures used to implement the infrastructure/application portfolio
  • Ensure change management and problem management processes are followed by the Network Services team.
  • Establish proper collection, storage, and reporting of network services measurement data.

Additional Requirements:
  • Travel as required - up to 30% (as needed) or more during project related work; travel could include driving long distance up to 3 hours; flying out of State (and also driving in rural areas up to 3 hours); same day and overnight travel as required. Travel could be required with short notice at times during operational emergencies
  • Available 24 hours a day during on-call rotations and ability to respond to critical incidents on an as needed basis at times requiring late night handling of emergency calls
  • Move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Positions self to install equipment, including mounting equipment on network racks; inside network cabinets; on ceilings (for WAP installations when required).
  • Ability to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation, and work off platforms and equipment
  • Full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists, eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation)
  • Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, and vibration
  • Use of manual tools such as screwdrivers and/or power tools to install equipment as needed.
  • This role requires inspection of sites (both locally and across our fleet of sites) to establish installation and deployment plans for networking equipment.
  • Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while installing networking equipment at all sites as requires and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards
