BATES TECHNICAL COLLEGE Manager of Campus Life and Activities reports to the Vice President of Student Services, serves as a member of the Student Services Leadership Team, and as a member of the College Leadership Team. This position manages the Campus Life and Activities Department under Student Services. Campus Life and Activities includes the Associated Student Government (ASG), and provides direction for all non-academic, extracurricular and co-curricular offerings on the Bates Campuses. The Manager is the primary budget authority for the allocation and expenditure of all student fees. The position ensures the ongoing operation of the Associated Student Government and serving as a liaison between student government, administration, faculty and classified staff.This is an Exempt position.Position will be posted until filled. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Development and implementation of an annual work plan focused on student engagement within Campus Life and Activities for the college.Develop strategic goals and objectives, along with outcomes assessment for Campus Life and Activities and the ASG. Responsible for creating an environment on campuses that will significantly contribute to the recruitment and retention of students by creating a vibrant student life.Supervise the development of the annual ASG budget and assure fiscal accountability of ASG expenditures. Advise student government in the development of its annual budget; serve as budget authority, monitor monthly expenditures and budget summary reports, manage student fee revenue, and ensure that expenditures follow approved budgetary procedures established by the College, the ASG Financial Code and the Office of Financial Management (OFM).Supervise the ASG and Student Life Assistant and the Campus Life Clubs and eSports Coordinator.Ensure that student activities are appropriate and available to all students.Manage personnel by hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff and resolving personnel issues. Consult with the Student Service Leadership Team and the Vice President of Student Services on a regular basis; prepares summary of ASG activities and budget status.Serve as liaison and advocate between the student government, administrative, faculty and classified staff for conflict resolution, coordinating campus-wide activities, committee participation and other pertinent events or issues that pertain to the College's student body.Supervise leadership development and active participation in college governance for student officers through participation in a yearly, structured leadership program, and through college committee participation.Advise the administration on student related policy documents including the ASG Constitution and By-Laws, the Financial Code and the Student Rights and Responsibilities Code.Manage all students posting and free expression/petitioning/campaigning activities to ensure internal, local, state and federal speech standards are met or exceeded.Actively research current practices and issues in higher education and student services and implement best practices into campus programs.Responsible for preparing budgets and management of financial operations of the department within the budget, goals and objectives of college guidelines and policies. Provide leadership, development, and supervision to staff to maximize the overall performance and ensure alignment of the department's and College’s strategic plan, core values, vision and mission. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree; andTwo (2) years of experience in developing and facilitating programs and activities in a post secondary setting. Allowable SubstitutionIf necessary, alternative combinations of education and experience may be evaluated by Human Resources for comparability. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in education, college student personnel administration, counseling, or related field.
