General Responsibilities
Coordinates operations and scheduling of activities including but not limited to fitness center, gymnasiums, multipurpose areas and fields. Organizes leagues, camps, rentals, recreational and intramural programming. Oversees coverage of the fitness center by interacting with students and instructors on class needs as well as coaches and athletes’ needs. Ability to set up, distribute and break down classes, athletic events and rentals as needed. Serves as a resource for college policies and procedures. Coaching and recruitment of student athletes for HCC in conjunction with rules of the College and National Junior College Athletic Association as assigned by Athletic Director.

Work Performed
  • Working with scheduling software to improve the facility scheduling process.
  • Working with the coaches to assist them in improving their student-athletes performance and connecting them with available resources in the college.
  • Ensures that the daily activities in the Complex and on the field run smoothly.
  • Monitors the participants and activities ongoing in the Complex and on the fields.
  • Enforces the general policies set by the Athletic Director.
  • Provides needed staffing coverage for classes, events, practices, and rentals for indoor and outdoor spaces.
  • Hires, supervises and implements policies and training for part time staff.
  • Coordinates student athletes’ strength and conditioning programming.
  • Collaborate and serve as liaison with student life and staff wellness departments to develop programming.
  • Liaise with Kids on Campus to develop and promote camp offerings in athletics.
  • Provide recommendations to facilities manager in purchasing equipment to support current trends in fitness and wellness.
  • Provide data to Athletic Director in regard to tracking building usage and budgeting.
  • Develop and serve as Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) advisor.
  • Ability to coach an intercollegiate athletic program as assigned by the Athletic Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree

Other Knowledge Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree required and three years of experience. Master’s preferred.
  • Knowledge of fitness and athletic equipment
  • Familiarity with college procedures and NJCAA athletic rules and publications.
  • Knowledge of standard computer operations, Windows environment, e-mail and Internet.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Regular attendance is a requirement of this job.
  • Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college’s sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity.

As a participating member of the Maryland Retirement and Pension System, HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees in positions that do not require a bachelor’s degree must participate in The Pension. Employees that possess a bachelor’s degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor’s degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The ORP.
