Job Description:
Arcosa Aggregates is searching for a Manager of Mineral Exploration based in the Arlington, TX office. In this role, you will support a positive safety culture by directing the activities and staff within a mining environment that is regulated by MSHA safety standards. As the Manager of Mineral Exploration, you will manage the acquisition of reliable field data, Arcosa’s mineral exploration database, review and interpret laboratory data, build deposit models, delineate reserves, and make recommendations for further action where needed. You will also plan and direct mineral investigations at Arcosa’s current and potential aggregate mining sites. This position reports to the Director of the Exploration and Land Group.

What you'll do:
- Understand and promote the drivers and culture of Arcosa’s Safety Program, ARC100.
- Manage all aspects of the Arcosa Exploration Department including hourly crew members, safety compliance, mobile equipment, drilling rigs and 3rd party contract drilling firms.
- Develop effective aggregate exploration and sampling strategies.
- Promptly update Arcosa’s mineral exploration database as information is received from the field and laboratory.
- Interpret deposit lithology and laboratory analysis as related to the salability of desired aggregate products.
- Build isopach models characterizing overburden thickness, deposit thickness, stripping ratio, and other relevant metric derived from available data.
- Prepare defensible resource estimates of saleable material consistent with the various economic, environmental, mining, and quality constraints faced at each facility.
- Develop strong relationships with operations managers and convey relevant resource information in a clear and concise manner.
- Assist with organizing data to substantiate Arcosa’s reserves annually pursuant to S-K 1300.
- Acquire, process and review GPS surveys, aerial photography, elevation data sets, property ownership data sets, geological maps, and other data used to characterize Arcosa resources within ArcGIS Pro.
What you'll need:
- College degree in geology or mining engineering required.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the aggregate or closely related industry required.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience with core, sonic, auger, bail or other geotechnical drilling and exploration methods required.
- Competency with ArcGIS Pro, Database Management, and contouring software.
- Strong analytical skills necessary for evaluating resource quantity and quality issues.
- Knowledge of aggregate industry specifications preferred. Aggregate QC/QA experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in different geographic locations.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office business and proficient keyboarding skills.
- Must be willing to travel overnight and work outdoors.
- Must be able to follow safety rules and procedures
