The Manager of Patient Financial Services is responsible for the overall operations and functions of the Patient Accounting Business Office. The Manager defines and provides the necessary support and leadership to achieve departmental goals and objectives. The Manager oversees the Business Office functions including the billing and collections of patient accounts, compliance with third party payer regulations, cash posting, employee productivity and ongoing improvement to key revenue cycle indicators.
Job Specifications:
  • Manages and directs the operations of the Patient Accounting Business Office.
  • Provides essential management functions to assure effective day-today operations.
  • Participates as a member of the team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes and customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for own practice within legal, ethical and professional boundaries.
Required Qualifications:
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Finance or business-related field or equivalent required experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

Required Licensure: None.

Required Experience: Five years of management experience (with bachelor degree requirements) or 8 years (with Associate's degree) or 10 years (with no degree) in a hospital setting in the areas of collections and/or billing, with an emphasis on payor compliance and customer service experience and knowledge of HIPAA.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Education: Master’s degree in business or healthcare related field.
Preferred Licensure: Registration or Professional Organization membership with the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) or American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM).
Preferred Experience: More than ten years of hospital experience managing Patient Accounts and Billing in an acute care setting. Recent experience with Cerner Millennium or current EHR system.
