Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC) is seeking a Manager, SWPF Quality Control to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.

This Manager is responsible for managing the Salt Waste Processing Facility (SWPF) Quality Control (QC) program for all disciplines including, but not limit to, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Special Process, Receiving, and Instrumentation and Calibration. Demonstrates a working knowledge of quality and regulatory requirements for implementing a QC program which meets the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) NQA-1 (Quality Assurance Requirements for Nuclear Facility Applications) as applied. Manages the preparation, maintenance, and implementation of QC procedures to support the SWPF QC program. Leads a staff of qualified QC personnel in scheduling, planning and performing inspections and tests, including equipment preparation, calibration and set-up, and recording of results. Oversees the training and certification of QC personnel and maintenance of personnel certifications. Performs selected quality engineering tasks related to work orders, procurements, nonconformance reports, and significant condition(s) adverse to quality. Supports internal QA audits and supplier evaluations as a subject matter expert in QC, M&TE, and S/CI matters. Interfaces with SRMC management, SWPF line managers, DOE-SR, and external groups regarding SWPF QC activities.
  • Manages the SWPF QC program and daily activities of QC inspectors to ensure that inspections are planned, performed, and documented in a manner which ensures the quality of the items meet specified operational requirements
  • Assesses, develops/revises and implements procedures, guidelines, practices and processes for the effective implementation of QC activities
  • Ensures QC Inspection staff disciplines to skill mix is commensurate with need and personnel are qualified and certified to perform assigned duties
  • Maintains QC personnel certifications are current
  • Schedules inspections and provides sufficient, qualified, and timely QC inspection resources to meet SWPF needs
  • Oversees the scheduling, planning, performance, and reporting of QC surveillances
  • Manages the review/approval of work orders by inspection personnel to ensure adherence with SWPF and site procedures
  • Initiates, reviews and approves nonconformance reports, conditional releases, and condition reports
  • Ensures appropriate and immediate notifications and actions are taken when significant condition(s) adverse to quality are identified
  • Reviews QC records and reports for adequacy, accuracy, traceability, completeness, and legibility
  • Supports the SWPF M&TE program, including procurement, calibration, and issuance of M&TE for SWPF activities
  • Supports the SRMC Suspect/Counterfeit Item Prevention program to prevent entry of S/CI into SWPF and to detect, control, report, and disposition any identified S/CIs
  • Reviews and approves procurement requisitions to ensure quality requirements are implemented
  • Reviews and approves commercial grade dedication (CGD) documents to ensure quality requirements are met
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert and/or Level III Certifying authority on quality control activities
  • Supports internal QA audits and supplier evaluations as needed
  • Provides technical QC guidance to operations and project management teams on QC matters, including developing corrective actions and lessons learned
  • Represents SWPF with external groups related to assigned quality control activities
  • Manages QC staff including selection, performance feedback, salary planning, training, and career development
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS from an accredited university (or equivalent experience per applicable DOE orders) and 6+ years’ experience in quality control

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ year’s experience preferred
  • 4+ years in nuclear quality control
  • QC Inspector Level III Certification
  • NQA-1 Auditor or Lead Auditor
  • Quality Control Certification in one or more disciplines, with Mechanical as a minimum
