EMPLOYER: Maine Molecular Quality Controls, Inc. (MMQCI) is a medical device
manufacturer that designs, develops, manufactures, and markets unique molecular biology-based
quality control products. Our products are used worldwide by hospital laboratories to monitor
the accuracy of tests for inherited disease, pharmacogenetics, oncology, and infectious diseases.
MMQCI also provides custom products for test development, internal QC testing and for test kit
controls. MMQCI has developed unique technologies to stabilize DNA and RNA for use in our
products and we continue to pursue the discovery of novel techniques useful for the development
of new quality control products. We are a small, growing company that offers a relaxed but
challenging work environment.
POSITION TITLE: Manufacturing Assistant
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Assistant provides key support to the manufacturing, production and QC
teams by performing a wide variety of laboratory support tasks according to established written
procedures under limited supervision. The successful candidate is a great team player with good
dexterity, organization skills, attention to detail and can work comfortably in an environmentally
controlled laboratory environment (ECA/clean room) where gowning and aseptic technique is
required. This candidate would also enjoy assisting others, having work variety and likes
following detailed work instructions. It is expected that the Manufacturing Assistant will quickly
develop sufficient expertise to function independently.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Follows aseptic techniques when working in laboratory spaces and appropriately gowns
per protocol for the specific spaces. (hair net, goggles, facemask, lab coat, gloves and
booties). Training will be provided.
2. Assists team members with routine cleaning of work spaces, hoods, benches and
equipment following standard operating procedures.
3. Assists with miscellaneous tasks to help ensure manufacturing runs smoothly.
Depending on the background and interests of the candidate the candidate may assist
others with preparation of chemistries.
4. Provides routine stocking of PPE and other inventory items in the ECA and QC lab areas.
5. Tracks expiration dates on routinely stocked materials and kits and uses planning
calendar to ensure that materials are ordered and on hand when needed.

6. Provides clean, treated and autoclaved glassware/labware to team per manufacturing
schedules. Prepares laboratory glassware carefully and thoroughly according to Standard
Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ability to stand for several hours and perform inspection
of glassware is required.
7. Performs routine inventory of lab supplies and orders supplies as needed to ensure
minimum stocking levels of purchased items.
8. May assist with environmental monitoring of lab areas including particle counts, air
sampling, water sampling.
9. Follows all MMQCI’s protocols based on current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP)
and International Organization for Standards (ISO) quality systems by consistently and
accurately filling out appropriate paperwork and following appropriate procedures.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. High School Diploma, with an interest in working in a laboratory setting or Associate
Degree in Biology/ Life Sciences or Chemistry.
2. Able to accurately perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures quickly but with
stringent attention to detail, while fully gowned, using correct aseptic techniques.
3. Is well organized, follows instructions meticulously and enjoys precise, detailed work.
4. Strong work ethic; willingness to help the MMQCI team whenever and wherever needed,
ability to multitask.
5. Must be a nonsmoker due to product contamination prevention requirements.
6. Must be able to stand for several hours, lift approximately 25 lbs and safely manipulate
large glass flasks up to 20L and packages.
7. Good communication skills, written and oral, with good computer skills including Excel.
8. Familiarity with clean room gowning procedures and working in an environmentally
controlled environment preferred.
9. Experience in a GMP or ISO quality system industrial environment is preferred.
