Manufacturing Engineer
JOB SUMMARY: Monitor and improve Production performance by applying Lean principles and promoting a continuous improvement mindset. Cross-train within the production group to understand the operation of all processes and equipment. Ensure production Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are met consistently. Entry-level position with ample opportunity in a high-performing fast-growing company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attain a deep understanding of the manufacturing process and plant capabilities to instruct and assist Operations Personnel on how to achieve desired results.
- Use a data-driven approach to improvement and problem-solving to drive and sustain true improvement in the area of the highest priority.
- Interface with peer roles across the enterprise to maintain alignment, share best operational practices, and assist in achieving performance goals at all sites.
- Provide safety leadership by engaging employees in safety interactions, acting on safety opportunities, and participating in company safety initiatives.
- Lead investigation and define countermeasures for safety and quality issues.
- Confer with equipment vendors to optimize the use and preventative maintenance of machines.
- Create and maintain preventative maintenance and calibration schedules.
- Oversee equipment repairs to minimize downtime and costs.
- Solicit operator feedback to mine for improvement opportunities.
- Provide day-to-day technical troubleshooting for production.
- Work directly with shop floor personnel on issues and manufacturing concerns, ensuring continuous product and process improvements.
- Assess products and make appropriate changes to maximize Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM).
- Interface with Designers to give feedback from Production that will enhance future designs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- The Ideal candidate will have good organizational skills, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience in problem-solving in a team environment.
- Ability to learn basic SolidWorks modeling, Microsoft Excel, and MRP/ERP systems.
PREFERRED:
- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of lean six sigma principles.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to travel multiple times a year to other manufacturing facilities.
- Background in millwork and cabinet design and construction.
