Job description

SUMMARY

Supervises and coordinates activities of production workers by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Supervises and assists all production personnel in the performance of their jobs.

· Responsible for maintaining quality production in accordance with the standards set forth by the company and its customers.

· Maintains efficient operation of all equipment while supplying high quality products.

· Communicates and is supportive of company policies and decisions.

· Conveys department goals and expectations.

· Interprets and enforces safety regulations.

· Assesses and documents individual training accomplishments and needs. Makes recommendations for further training.

· Maintains thorough records of subordinates’ job performance.

· Performs performance evaluations on subordinates, communicating improvement ideas and recommendations to the Plant Manager.

· Utilizes interpersonal communication skills to effectively handle conflicts, as well as give positive reinforcement for satisfactory job performance.

· Thoroughly communicates verbally and in written form to all support departments and adheres to their department communication requirements.

· Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly reports of shift activities and communicates such to the appropriate personnel.

· Monitors all inventory of raw material and perishable supplies related to production.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 20+ employees in the Manufacturing Departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include employee training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree(GED); 3-5 years prior plastic/extrusion and injection molding knowledge, or related experience and/ or training; one year certificate from college or technical plastics school, or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in technical problem solving as well as conflict resolution. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally exert force up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild to loud.

EQUIPMENT

All production related equipment, computers including the proficient use of spreadsheets and word process programs, all general office equipment.
