The Market Director manages operational and financial functions for the defined territory (North East, South East, North West, South West, or Outlet Division). The job responsibilities include but are not limited to defining sales targets, setting financial goals, and working with department heads to develop marketing, merchandising, and recruitment strategies. Responsible for managing the territory and the team, including staffing and maintaining operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Effectively drive sales goals and customer service with a continued focus on Customer Experience and improvement.
- Supports General/Store Managers in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training staff in individual locations.
- Fosters a positive environment through coaching, motivating, and mentoring while recognizing outstanding behaviors and performers.
- Evaluate the team's performance and develop a plan to address and manage issues.
- Achieves financial results of the store through effective management of turnover, margins, stock, and personnel costs.
- Accomplishes objectives by establishing plans, allocating resources, reviewing progress, and making mid-course corrections.
- Exceeds quality service standards by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge; reviews professional publications; establishes personal networks; benchmarks state-of-the-art practices; participates in professional societies.
- Customer Service- Identifying, developing, and nurturing the client base.
- Staff Development- Motivate and train the staff in product knowledge, service, and "salesmanship" using the Stardust training program. Increases the store's effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; communicating values, strategies, and objectives. Assign accountabilities; plan, monitoring, and appraising job results; develop a climate for offering information and opinions; providing educational opportunities.
- Revenue Generation- achieve all sales goals and improve full-price sell-through conversion target and UPT goals.
- Visual Merchandising- Ensure adherence to the visual merchandising standards throughout the region.
- Communication with Buyers- Delivers regular communication regarding stock balancing requests, specific market needs, and opportunities for future development.
- Inventory Control and Store Operations- Maintains stock organization, assures adherence to all operating procedures, and achieves inventory shortage targets.
- Undertake additional responsibilities when business needs dictate.
Qualifications
- Excellent English; knowledge of the second language preferred.
- Seven-to-ten years of previous retail management experience preferred luxury retail experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (professional and articulate); ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents. Demonstrated ability to lead a team. Ability to effectively communicate with staff, customers, peers, and management. Ability to speak on the telephone with proper etiquette.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to multi-task while being attentive to associates and customers while remaining flexible to the needs of the business. Ability to work as part of a team and take the initiative independent of direct supervision.
- Physical requirements: This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for an extended period; may occasionally involve stooping, sitting, kneeling, crouching, and climbing step stools. Requires lifting of at least 20-30 lbs.
- Regular and reliable attendance, generally on a 5-day-a-week, full-time schedule (37.5 hours). Required to work various hours, which may include mornings, evenings, and weekends, based on store needs.
- May be required to work longer hours to support home store and assigned area.
- 25% local and overnight travel is required within the assigned area.
