Massage Therapist PRN Job at Community Hospice & Palliative Care

Under the direction and supervision of the PCA, this position is responsible for providing therapeutic massage appropriate for patients, families, and staff. This position is also responsible for teaching the art of therapeutic touch/Comfort Touch style massage to patient care providers as needed and supervising and recruiting volunteer Massage Therapists.
Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
Primary Responsibilities:
Evaluates and assesses therapeutic massage needs of the client and documents according to policies and procedures. Directs and performs massage in consultation with patients, caregivers, and Community Hospice staff. Recruits and supervises Volunteer Licensed Massage Therapists to perform massage in consultation with patients, caregivers, and Community Hospice staff. Attends and participates in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings as necessary. Provides in-service programs for Community Hospice staff as required. Promotes and supports understanding of complimentary therapies to the Community Hospice staff. Attends clinical in-services and continuing education opportunities. Provides other duties within licensure as assigned.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Current License as a Massage Therapist in the State of Florida.
- Current State of Florida Driver’s license with driving record acceptable to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida insurance carrier; reliable transportation.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide required skills
and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.
Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Graduate of accredited school of massage required.
- Minimum of three (3) years massage therapy experience.
- Experience with Comfort Touch massage and Reiki massage required.
- Experience with teaching massage therapy techniques preferred.
Knowledge of:
- Application of adult learning techniques in teaching/training massage to other Licensed Massage Therapist.
- Comfort Touch massage.
- Reiki.
Skilled at:
Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly with Community Hospice patients and medical staff, families, and long term care providers.
- Providing care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
